Description

Description

In addition to a new name – the Stimulus 3551 – the updated 3550 Pardue model features improved reliability and a larger push button. It maintains the stylish spear point blade shape and compact 6061-T6 aluminum handle, equipped with safety and reversible right hand carry pocket clip. The small size of the Stimulus gives it an advantage in everyday carry comfort for military and law enforcement officers.

The Stimulus 3551 has a satin finished blade with a plain cutting edge.

I've carried my Stimulus for over 16 years now,and had to send it in once after five years to have the spring repaired. It took about 3 months turn around time but I've never had any problems with it since. It has some appreciable wear as you can imagine.I had since purchased a polymer handled version as well as the updated version. My concern with the current version is the thin blade, which is a legitimate gripe. All 3 versions of this model I own are top notch and I would recommend this knife strongly.

I have carried and used this knife every day for almost a year without any major issues. The slight blade play it developed after several months (and thousands of openings) was fixed with a small drop of locktite and has never returned. The blade is a little thin for heavy tasks, but mostly because the dagger style blade makes it uncomfortable to press your thumb in the spine. 154CM is a high quality steel and I have little concern about chipping or breaking. I do consider this an indoor knife, however, I take it fishing with me all the time. Perfect line snipper, very pocket friendly, completely reliable.
Improvments?

For the “improvments” that were made to the original 3550, this knife is still overpriced. The blade is super thin and if anything this knife is just a “tactical” letter opener. I’d be too afraid to use it for anything else, fearing the blade would snap!
