I've decided to purchase this one because I can neither find nor afford the legendary Smithsonian Bowie by Randall and to be honest, I've already fallen in love with this beauty. A2 tool steel seems slightly better than O1 when it comes to edge retention and toughness and although it's not a cheap knife, it's definitely affordable compared to Randall knives. I also own Bark River Shining Mountain Bowie, a sister knife to this one, and they both possess wickedly sharp edge and could be real nasty weapons with formidable blades. It's very hard to find a big carbon steel Bowie knife for real use in the real world nowadays, but Bark River made my wish come true and it's my kind of Bowie knife. As a Bowie knife collector this one is a must have and I just love it!
