The Boker Rainbow Mermaid. Built 4 knife enthusiast everywhere. Absolutely Beautiful design, Amazing color. 1 of the Best conversation knive'z ever !
after reading the reviews of the magnificent beauty I said to myself, YES you NEED TO OWN THIS! but you can't keep this stunner all to yourself that would be unfair to the world. So I showed her to a co-worker and he fell head over heals in love and before I was able to say hey "we should order one of these'' he was already on the web credit card in hand and placing our order. She arrived today and I can not place into words how fantastic this knife is. Her beauty transcends everything us mortals can comprehend. I can not look directly at her for her beauty can actually hurt your eyes. when I speak I use hushed tones in order to keep her calm. the blade is so sharp I actually cut threw a diamond. this is a true holy grail knife, and if you believe you are worthy to be in her presents order one. she will only come to those who are worthy. God speed and good luck
It's really nice quality. Pretty tight and not a flipper out of the box. I suppose you could loosen it. I'm putting it up as a collectable though.
I never thought magic was real, until now. I’m more confident, richer, and the ladies (and men) are practically throwing themselves at me.Whoever imbued this sucker with rainbow juju just made my life complete. I’ll never carry anything else.
This is a pretty good knife. Its beautiful for sure, but also works just as well. I tried it out on a few packages and it did nicely. Its a hollow ground blade. This knife is beefy. It is not a small knife. Check your local regulations before buying. The knife has one small issue that was an easy fix. The pivot was a little to tight, so it had to be loosened slightly and it flips nicely now, with a little extra oomph. Its a right hand tip down carry only. Pros: Beautiful, works well, affordable, good grip. Cons: Pivot needed a little adjustment. Neutral: Size. Its a big knife, so it may not be for everyone Right side tip down carry only. All depends on what you like
Like everyone else, I bought it for its novelty but when I got it I was shocked at its quality and sharpness. Just a great buy that everyone should have in their collection!
I initially bought it for the novelty but it's actually rather nice. Way smoother than you'd expect. The listing is actually outdated, it isn't 440A but instead it's 7Cr17Mov. Not a ground breaking steel but slightly better than 440A and mine came actually very sharp.
I use this knife as a trophy for my employee of the year. My guys love to strive to earn one. All my new technicians ask about it and the ones that have earned it tell them what they need to do and they strive to earn it.
Give it about 100 cycles, then loosen the pivot screw just a bit and you'll be AMAZED at how good the flipping action is! The grip is comfortable too; it's shaped well; feels like a metal Cold Steel Voyager in the hand. I couldn't tell from the pix whether the mermaid is glued on or integral with the blade. She's integral! Even the 440A steel is not bad. It's not state-of-the-art any more, but it's not bad. It doesn't dull immediately when whittling or something. I wished for a tip up pocket clip, but if it was carried that way, the grip pattern on the back and the protruding flipper would really be uncomfortable. Give this knife a try. It's not going to give your Manix 2 a run for the money in terms of EDC, but it is a LOT better than just a novelty.
built better then i was thinking when look at the pictures. love this knife also turns heads very good social knife. willing to buy more as gifts.
Very well built and quality for the price. Action is a little stiff but with some encouragement it will fly open.
Now I know why this is a grail knife for so many. The fit and finish is really good for the price. It was more solid than I expected. You could use it if you were willing to take it out of the safe. I wouldn’t do that though.
I bought this knife for my daughters birthday. The color is cool and its a well built knife. It also was shipped in a nice Tin Box. After my wife and my other daughters saw the knife they all want one. I guess I will be buying more.
This is the most ridiculous knife ever. You have to have one. The mermaid adorns both sides of the blade, and the flipper is a flipper while the knife scales are scales. The rainbow coloring hypnotizes you. My daughter thinks it's pretty, and that's reason enough to own it. The 440A blade is butter-knife dull, and I'll probably leave it that way. Once I adjusted the pivot tension, it flipped into position easily. It's large and sort of heavy. The pocket clip sits so close to the body that it doesn't work correctly. Nothing about this knife makes sense, which means that you obviously should buy one now!
I bought one for myself and one for my Navy buddy who absolutely loves it! It should be the official knife for the Navy! It just makes so much sense! Every Sailor should own a beautiful mermaid in their pocket or close to their heart. Talon Sei's review describes this knife perfectly. She is a little shy so you have to do a bit of convincing for her to come out. In conclusion, the böker mermaid is a great knife. The grail knife. Buy it today!
I just thought this thing was hilarious and would be a great conversation starter. Turns out it a great knife for the price I carry it as my daily beater knife now. the only drawback is it's pretty heavy if that's something that bothers you might want to pass.
Eat your heart out Kris Reaves, this is the best knife ever made.
Absolutely Beautiful! I admit I ordered it for the novelty of a Mermaid knife. But when I got Her in my hands I fell in love with Her. She don't want to flip out without a little wrist action, but once she's out, you can admire her totally. The size of the blade is pure combat, and the handle fills your hand with confidence. Awesome to be held. Boker has made the most awesome pocket knife ever! 5 solid Stars, and I would buy another, maybe for a real good friend. Semper Fi. Knife collector and user for 60 years.
I bought this as a joke, because of all the memes, but when I showed this to my brother he instantly went blind. When I tried to apologize to him the knife somehow screamed, " I WILL APOLOGIZE TO NO MORTAL!" and smited him. 10/10 would buy again.
I showed this to two of my non knife friends and they loved it. It's a fun piece that could be an easy way to introduce a knife to someone. I got it for the collections because Mermaid!
This knife is the most glorious thing I’ve ever held in my hands. Each color of the knife grabs the light and throws it back into your pupils with authority. Almost blinding. Colors so vibrant they’ll make you weep and make you feel like your skating on the northern lights. Once open The gorgeous mermaid will distract you from everything that surrounds you. You will catch yourself gazing into her eyes for hours on end. The authoritative “thwack” the emits from the blade when you play with her tail flipper tab is like a sirens song that will have you opening and closing the knife as much as possible. The detent, present. The centering, what centering? This knife enjoys hugs, especially hugs towards the show side. Lock rock? It’ll lock rock your world. Blade play? It’s a mermaid. They love playing with your heart. I can’t recommend this knife enough. If you are on your last $30, buy this knife, you won’t regret it. Good bye, I love you
In folklore, a mermaid is an aquatic creature with the head and upper body of a female human and the tail of a fish. Mermaids appear in the folklore of many cultures worldwide, including the Near East, Europe, Asia, and Africa. The first stories appeared in ancient Assyria, in which the goddess Atargatis transformed herself into a mermaid out of shame for accidentally killing her human lover. Mermaids are sometimes associated with perilous events such as floods, storms, shipwrecks, and drownings. In other folk traditions (or sometimes within the same tradition), they can be benevolent or beneficent, bestowing boons or falling in love with humans.
Traded a pink sentient switch blade and my Chris Reeve collection for one of these bad boyz, best tactical EDC flipper ever... Best knife ever... Best thing ever(?)
Like Gandalf's Staff, Thor's Hammer, King Arthur's Excalibur, or Adam Sandler's reality Altering Remote, THIS is the tool of heroes. Legend tells of a mystical Blade, capable of conquering the lands of paper-cutting, rendering it's user, NAY, WIELDER, capable of infinite power, and the ability to open any package, no matter how well taped! Created by the mystical and legendary bladesmith by the name of Austin, from the lands of BladeHQ ( and now somewhere in Oregon ) while collaborating with the Infamous armory known as Boker comes a real work of art, featuring the Volcano-Forged Adamantium blade, to the heart-stopping depiction of the last real mermaid, coupled with gorgeous colors produced from the only documented tears of a Honeybadger. This Blade will stand the test of time and space, unlike us mere-mortals. ALL HAIL THE MERMAID OF POWER!! *Army Chants* " HAIL, HAIL, HAIL". Only those who are worthy may experience the indescribable feeling produced upon receiving this masterpiece.
This knife is so much larger and heavier than I expected. But with great power comes... even greater fun. Needed oil in the pivot for easier deploying, but it's smooth now. Life's too short to not have fun. Enjoy.
This thing really is pretty. It is also pretty heavy. Weak detent means I need some wrist to get the flipper...um, tail?... to work. Maybe some break in will help. Mine came nicely centered and reasonably sharp. Fun conversation piece! Cheers!
Pretty good knife for the price. Cool piece to show people. The coin that came with it should be more available for purchase. It is a very nice piece.
This was a must have for my collection, simply for the troll aspect. The best thing about this knife, being my first Boker, was the packaging. It includes a very nice embossed tin that should hold a much more expensive knife! Clunky flipper action with a decent liner lock makes this a great box opener. Any kind of hard use scratches the coating on the nicely shaped blade. This knife is especially for show, and is quite heavy. It has found its way all the way to the bottom of my girlfriend’s purse!
