Just got mine in a day ago and have been using it since. The amazing blade length is perfect for what it’s being used for as well as being a perfect EDC knife. Going from big and bulky knifes to small and slim knifes it a huge difference if size and overall functionality and how people see what I’m using. Absolutely recommend to anyone who is looking for a good EDC
This is my first knife from Boker and man I am genuinely impressed. The grip texture is amazing, the edge is nice and sharp out the box, and the functionality is simple and nice. Couldn’t be happier for the money.
Just received this knife. It is tight sturdy & pops open with authority. The only complaint is it is a little on the dull side, it won't shave my arm hair out of the box. But other then that I really feel like Boker knocked it out of the park with these auto openners for this price. Good job Boker!
My first auto knife, so my first thought with a problem is that it must be me. Out of the box, the blade would not reliably lock open, depending on how the the knife was held. Worst case, it would lock only 5 out of ten times. Rather than write a poor review, I joined bladeforums.com to ask about this first. First reply suggested loosening the pivot. The solution turned out to be the opposite, though, as apparently there was too little resistance. The blade was bouncing off the stop faster than I could let up the button. When I loosened it, the problem got worse, so I tightened it a bit, and now the blade locks every time in every launch position. I'll keep my tools and T8 Torx bit handy, though, as I suspect this may need to be adjusted from time to time. So this is a "qualified" 5-star review, subject to either getting one properly adjusted from the factory, or the buyer having a set of Torx tools.
I think I have found the perfect auto. As with my review of the Boker Kalashnikov, it wasn't very sharp out of box. Being that it is D2, it did take a bit more work than the AUS-8 on the Kalash to get it sharp to my liking. It has a very smooth and "soft" action. It feels damped as it hits the end of it's travel, but that seems to give it an air of refinement. I plan on buying any D2 Auto Strike I see. I just have the wait for a D2 Desert Warrior to come out.
I bought this one for $49.99 and am very impressed with it. The handle is very grippy and is big enough for my hands without taking up too much pocket room. Button and safety are tight, Over all a quality knife. I made an account to give this 5 stars.
The Boker Plus Strike Drop Point in D2 is an overall great value; the best "bang for your buck". I've noticed a few quirks with this knife, but nothing to make you steer away from purchasing this. THE PROS: - ERGONOMICS: Fits very well in hands making it very easy to handle. - BLADE ACTION: Very swift and responsive blade action. You'll find yourself firing this blade often for no particular reason. MATERIAL: D2 blade steel making this quite the upgrade from AUS-8. Decent blade retention. I have yet to sharpen this knife so I cannot comment on ease of sharpening. POCKET CLIP: Deep and strong pocket clip making it easy to remove and replace in your pocket along with keeping it very secure. THE CONS: - PAINT WEAR: After less than 2 weeks of carrying this knife, the pocket clip has had some paint chip off along with some noticeable wear to the aluminum handle. - SAFETY SLIDE/LOCK: The safety slide/lock had unlocked and eventually caused the blade to fire all while still in my pocket. This only happened once. Overall this Boker Strike is a GREAT value. Decent quality for less than $50! A perfect everyday carry knife without breaking the bank and worrying about damaging an expensive alternative. I would highly recommend!
really impressed by the quality of this knife especially for the price. Use it everyday and i have to say the grip feels great and fits my bear paws nicely. blade pops out with force and really like the lock feature.Alot of knife for the money!
A durable auto at a great price! I bought a second one to keep as a backup, no need.... the original just keeps on chugging. This one was bought as a gift for a buddy. I don't give away junk, my reputation is on the line. Great knife!
This knife is everthing I want for a every day carry. Very sharp and fast.
Had a Kalashnikov for a couple years that I've beat up real good. Purchased this for a gift and love it. I'm going to get another for myself. Love the D2 upgrade from the Aus-8.
This knife has everything you need and nothing you don’t. Hard to believe it’s under 50 dollars. Deep cover clip and positive button are just a few of the features that make this an excellent EDC knife. I wish it was around when I was working as a cop. One definitely would have been in my pocket.
I bought this knife 6 months ago and have carried it pretty regularly. I have loved everything about this knife except the coating. First day, first cut through cardboard and the coating already started stripping. Would have like a higher quality coating. I have 0 complaints outside that and prefer this knife over the Kalashnikov due to sturdiness and feel in hand. Also it opens very firmly and i have never had it not open all the way or worried it wouldn't open. Would love to see this knife to get some more knife blade designs like the Kalashnikov but that's not really a complaint, more a wistful dream haha.
Great Deal, awesome D2 Steel. For my very first automatic/pocket knife of any kind for that matter, this is almost everything I wanted. The pivot was a little off and the flip action wasn't as snappy as I expected... also the safety switch is so stiff it will rub your skin raw when used excessively... After a bit of maintenance, & tender love everything works properly. This should be taken care of before shipping, but none the less, it's a great product for the price point otherwise this would be 5 stars, and getting it into a great working order help me gain a knowledge about automatics.
In my pocket all day every day. From stirring my coffee in the morning to whatever else comes up. It sharpens quickly with my Tri-hone to a razor edge. Drop point flat grind are the best IMO. The locking mechanism has never failed. The ability to swap pocket clip location is a bonus that I used. Rugged and reliable, fits great in the hand, and I like the shape of the hilt to keep your hand from wandering into the blade. Now, my only complaint is the hardness. I do not see where any R numbers are stated, and I suspect the blade is not properly heat treated. It sharpens too easily for a hardened D2 tool steel. and It will not retain that nice razor sharpness for long. If not for that, it would be a five star knife all day long.
First the good - its a very solid build, has a strong action, and good ergos. Now the bad.... quality control needs improvement. When I unpacked this knife I was pretty disappointed. The blade centering was way off, the pivot had a ton of play, the safety was stiff as can be and the blade had a small chip in it. I was able to correct all of this with lube, adjustments, and sharpening but you should not have to with a brand new knife. Boker usually has good QC so maybe i just got a one off and i decided to fix it up myself instead of exchanging it. Now that its fixed up it is a handy knife and the D2 seems harder than most of my other D2 knives. For the price I think it is a decent value even with having to fix the above issues.
Although knife was bought as gift review is from recipient of knife. Release very quick. Knife small and light. Upon receiving knife noticed safty seal on box was opened, emailed company to notify but never received acknowledgment. Very happy with this gift.
I haven't had a Boker auto for about 15 years now. I was really excited to discover the brand all over again. I purchased the Boker Plus Strike with the D2 blade. Upon receiving the knife I immediately noticed that the push button seedmed to "stick" for a split second, which causes a slight jerk during the release. I am a little dissapointed, since my previous Boker auto was smooth yet strong and quick upon release. I do appreciate the D2 upgrade and the ergonomic handle. Overall, it is well made except for the safety switch which is a little loose and the release button which has a slight "sticking" point. It is worth the money in my opinion and I plan on buying some for my family members (and for myself).
