I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this lil' snapper, especially for the $40 price point. I didn't have any of the gummy action issues other reviews report - it snapped open heartily on the first button press and continues to do so. The factory edge wasn't the sharpest, but a few passes on the belt sharpener and some stropping had it slicing like a champ. Fits snugly in the 5th pocket of jeans. Very comfortable 3 1/2 finger grip. I appreciate the jimping being a little further down the spine rather than at the base, because that's where my thumb falls naturally when I choke up on a blade this size - a nice design detail. The blade and scale coatings don't seem like they'll last forever, but it's a $40 compact D2 knife, not a show piece. I look forward to beating it up.

This knife was a little sluggish out of the box but a little oil and few times opening. It was better than I expected. Snaps hard. Looks great, and does the job! The people who wrote bad reviews must have got lemons. the only downside is the black will wear off after time, but its a knife not a decoration. I use it all the time and works great! 5 stars from me.

Can't complain about the design, fit well in the hand, everything just fall into place despite the small size. The manufactured and QA is bad however. Out of the box the button is beyond sticky, it wouldn't fire or fire with a delayed until all the paint where the button lock contact with the blade has been worn off. I thought it was the gunk in the action that prevented it so I open it up to clean. It was a mistake because the screws are thread into the plastic/g10 back spacer without a metal post and of course the threads stripped and wouldn't hold so now there are no way to keep the scale tight. So I just have to superglue it back and not gonna disassemble it ever again. I got it on a sale and it was too much hassle to return. I am now very weary with Boker Plus manufacture quality.

Beautiful little knife but put it away after trying to open the knife by pushing on the button for a couple of days. I oiled the button but it didnít unstick the button. I had to push down on top of the button with my thumbnail to get it to open reliably. I didnít even show it to anyone because I didnít want them to not be able to open it. I have lots of knives in this or a little more price range that I really like but this one will not be carried. Sorry Boker, you could have really hit a home run, but you stuck out on this one. Spend the money on any Civivi and you will be pleased.

I am 74 years old and have collected many knives. I just bought this knife less than a month ago and it looks crappy for such a new knife. I keep it in my front jeans pocket. The black paint on the scales is wearing off from rubbing on fabric and showing the metal. It works fine but when I pull it out to show people they can not believe that it is less than a month old. Blade HQ gave me a gift certificate which was a nice gesture but they refused to take it back. I called Boker to talk about the problem but no one was there and their mailbox was full. I am not going to loose sleep over how crappy it looks because it was inexpensive but I will make an effort to show all my friends. I bought another Boker knife this month before I saw what was going on with this knife. t was 3 times as expensive so I hope it holds up. This will be my last knife from Boker.

Button isn't the best but the ergonomics are amazing! You cannot go wrong with D2 and being in Cali there aren't many options especially for $50. Great pick up to feed the knife addiction.

Looks great, feels great in the hand, but the handle scratches badly if you look at it the wrong way. Seriously, I carried this for half a day and it looked a month old. But hey, it's a relatively inexpensive Cali auto, so at least it's different. You can't use this as an EDC or very frequently at all, unless you want it to look extremely worn, which of course ruins its looks. The blade release button also seems to be a consistent problem, judging from other reviews. Mine squeaks like an old bed mattress, and oiling it does nothing. So I can't recommend this as anything other than a lightly used novelty knife.

    Pros: Looks cool; good ergonomics.
Cons: By far, the most easily scratched pocket knife handle I've ever owned. And Blade HQ won't let you return a knife if it's ever been 'carried or used'. You know, the very things you have to do in order to see if you like the knife. So don't leave it in your pocket too long, and don't cut anything more than a sheet of paper.

I have to bump this up from 2 to 3 stars. I left the original review as posted, but I've mellowed a bit on this knife since then. I still have the issues stated above, but this is a little more fun than I thought it would be. And because of it's easily bruised skin, I don't socialize with it. I use it as a fidgety finger flicker and occasional EDC.

I don't think Boker is a bad knife manufacturer, I just think the knife world has come so far in the last five years that expectations are much higher. With the 'Vox Kompakt' the only plus this attractive little knife has is the legal carry-- beyond that there's vertical blade play [which is not improved by tightening the pivot], a gummy & unresponsive button, and a clip that shifts because it's only attached with one screw. I gave this puppy to a non-knife person and I hope they'll be very happy together.

As the previous review said, the button is a bit stiff. Otherwise, for what we are allowed to own in CA, this is a nice, High Value automatic. It looks great and operation is smooth. Plus, you can't beat the price (actually you could.) I would prefer Taiwan or USA manufacture, but it is still very well made and should last a lifetime. I wish there was more offered at that price point. Thanks.

After cleaning it and lubricating it, it fires way better and more consistent. For a $50 its not bad and looks great.

I was excited for this when I opened it. It is beautiful and when it releases it is snappy. Unfortunately it doesn't release well every time. Sometimes it doesn't even snap but opens slowly. The deployment button really needs to be pressed way down. I had to use the tip of my finger sometimes because the pad of my finger wouldn't push it down far enough. All this being said, it is a $50 auto. My Kalashnikov fires way better and more consistently. I will try and oil it up and wear it in. I spent an hour opening and closing trying to work it in. It seems to be loosening so I still have high hopes. I would still purchase this again. The issues can be overcome and it just looks so dang good.
