The War Toad friction folder is the first knife Geoff of TuffKnives ever made. Geoff began his knife career by customizing production knives for others. Word of his skills spread quickly and in no time, Geoff had a full time gig. The natural progression was for him to eventually design and make his own knives, and that brings us to the War Toad from Boker! With the break-out success of his custom versions, Boker presents the production War Toad at a fraction of the price with custom styling.

The Boker War Toad features a fantastic looking satin finished blade with complex grinds rarely seen in a production knife. The true chisel-ground blade sports a hollow-ground primary, flat secondary grind and a detail grind along the spine. This blade needs to be seen in person to comprehend how beautiful these grinds are!

The handle is comprised of a textured black G10 front, titanium back and titanium spacer. Geoff wanted to keep the handles simple, allowing the end user to customize the knife if they wish. A nod to his roots.

For those not familiar with friction folders, this is a non-locking knife. Once opened, the extended tang of the blade nestles between the two handle slabs. The hand then acts as a lock, not allowing the blade to close.

Lows and highs

Blade is well designed and I have been using it for camp site work. It is a hearty price of steel and I can choke up on it for delicate tasks. I use it alot in meal prep while out camping. Issue I had was with the fasteners. The g10 scales came to me cracked. I replaced with purple heart wood. When doing so the fasteners stripped out easily and I had to replace. Again the blade is fine, I like the chisel style knife but the rest of the assembly is pretty poor in comparison.
Cool knife

I've always wanted a real custom war toad from tuffknives, unfortunately the price tag and unavailability of the custom toads have prevented me from owning one. This is a great way to get the war toad feel and excitement with a friendly price tag. Many people have complained about the pocket clip, but I don't mind it. The knife is built like a tank. Everybody that I have shown this knife to has been intrigued by it. It's definitely a sweet little knife.
Great knife meant to be modded!

Fun knife

This is one robust little biscuit knife. It is thick and wide, making it feel like a "bigger" knife than it really is. The chisel grind takes a nice edge, even though 440C isn't one of my favorite steels. What elevates this small tank to the next level is the simplicity of the friction folder--no lock to fool with or take up space--and the graceful profiling used on the blade. The thick stock is thinned down in a way that gives the blade three dimensional visual appeal in person that you don't get from a picture. Once you are used to the friction lock, it is a pleasure to use and look at. Though the grip size only allows me 2 fingers on the handle, it is safe and comfortable to use.

Came sharp as a razor! I love the feel of it, it's nice and beefy. It is definitely a durable knife that you can trust. Boker did a great job with it
