Description:
The Boker XXL Kalashnikov is big. It's really big! It's so big it warranted a new box, a new handle shape, and a new aftermarket spring. This beastly Blade HQ Exclusive is a great option for a tactical knife, a self-defense knife, or a real statement of an EDC. The enormous Bowie blade is made of tough D2 tool steel, and the handle is made of aluminum. Add a huge automatic to your collection today.

For my purposes the d2 being harder, better edge retention and with the finish provided rust is a nice n issue, especially if you clean your tools after use. In general a large, easy to use one-handed and for it size it's it snappy on opening. Overall pleased with the purchase
WOW!! This Böker+ AK74 XXL automatic knife is very, very good! It's so big, but I like that a lot, that's why I bought it. The automatic action is pretty quick & crisp & the button doesn't stick. There's only one thing about it that needs improvement. It wasn't very sharp from the factory. It wouldn't shave arm hair right out of the box. This is unusual for Böker knives, ime. This is my 5th Böker knife & my fourth automatic one. I love the desert tan blade & aluminum OD green handle. It's a very impressive looking knife! I'm surprised at how thin the handle is, but it's not too thin. I have fairly large hands & it feels good in my hand. My first Böker knife was the Magnum AK47 automatic before they started using D2 steel. It's still razor sharp & the action is still snappy & crisp & it's 15 years old! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this AK74 XXL. Thanks!
I was looking to buy the regular Kalashnikov but the model I wanted wasn't available. I purchased this XXL and wow! It's bigger than I expected. Great design, balance and weight. To me you can use it as EDC if you wear jeans or cargo pants, nothing too tight, LOL. I am just starting to collect, I am glad I chose this knife. Next up the regular and the mini.
Locks up nicely, opens smoothly. D2 steel holds a nice edge. Carries discreetly for how large it is! Love it!
The large blade opens with an authiritative "thwack". Watched some reviews from nearly a year ago, all I can think is Boker increased their quality control as mine had no play or stick. Bought two, one for a friend as at this price point, why not. I got the green with bronze blade and all blacked out versions. Both came out of the box (shapped like an AK magazine) working perfectly. Great work guys!
Oh yes. I feel like I have to quote Crocodile Dundee every time I pull this beast out. It is a nice weight for the size, not overly heavy, fits in most pockets (no skinny jeans here), and the finish is great on it. It snaps nice and strong. It will be in my EDC rotation. Go big or go home.
I own way too many Kalashnikovs, and have given away almost as many as I own! But I couldn't pass this up...big and bad, indeed! Deployment a little sticky out of the box, but I'm sure it will work its way out with a little oil and TLC. Closing is a little easier. D2 steel is appreciated. This knife might make a good camper, but EDC? Probably not so much! Can't wait for DW OTF; coming soon, right?
This thing is a beast! A ton of knife with decent fit and finish for the price point. Maybe not the most practical choice for EDC but definitely one of the most fun!
It’s a big knife but carries well for its size and isn’t heavy at all. It’s pretty snappy for the size and came decently sharp and centered. Definitely a good price for such a Beast of a blade!
A kalashnikov's a kalashnikov.
Broker were the first ones to make the gigantic auto and it's not that bad actually. It's light weight, very ergonomic and handles well. I'm a diehard cold steel fanatic and I'm always packing a recon 1 XL, but I've been carrying this since I bought it and I like it. So far I haven't found anything I don't like about the knife. I'll probably buy another.
I have the mini, regular and now the xxl. The xxl is a lot bigger than I expected, it fits really nice in my hand. It does't carry to bad with jeans on. Love these knifes.
Size is outstanding not noticeable when carrying in pocket addition to my other Boker Kalashnikov knives.
Great addition to the kalashnikov line. Is it weird that I thought it would be bigger? ;) Action does not disappoint, very snappy. Great color scheme as always. Thanks BHQ!
Ships fast! This is a beautiful large auto that snaps out with major authority. The button is crisp and low profile in the pocket. I also have the Boker Burnley Kihon Desert in the same color pattern with 3.25 blade. These are very well finished and feel great in the hand! It fits awesome in the pocket too. AMAZING!!!!
They should have made this AGES ago. Perfection, for what it is. Great blade/handle color combo as well.
This knife is actually a good size, big without being ridiculously big and heavy. The action is not super snappy, but its wearing in nicely. My only criticism is that it wasn't very sharp out of box. It will slice paper, but won't shave hair (which is basically the lowest level of what i consider actually sharp). Overall though, I'm very happy with it.
The action on this thing is terrible! It barely opens. I can open my manual knives WAY faster than this thing. I really like the knife itself but as an auto it sucks. I could open it faster with a thumb stud. Hoping it improves with some use….highly doubt it though. I realize it’s a big blade but I’ve read other reviews that mention “snappy” and mine is far from that. So now that I’ve had some time it’s much better! Must have needed some breaking in. I’m fairly pleased now and VERY pleased with customer service. Never had a bad experience with BHQ.
I wish this knife was made in a better steel. AUS8 would have been better. I carried it a couple of times and it already has a lot of rust spots from very light use. It would be a 5 star knife if it wasn't for the sorry excuse of steel.
I do like Boker knives in general and this was actually my second purchase of this blade, but it has been a disappointment. The blade deploy is slow, there is considerable blade play side to side, and the blade when deployed does not completely set into the locking pin you can shake it forward and hear it click into place. Even tightening the tension screw down all the way to the point that you have to manually pull the blade out there is still side wobble, too much at least 2 mm each way. The first one I purchased, I had for a long time and loved it, so I didn't hesitate to buy again. Maybe I got a lemon. The way the blade is now I won't use it due to safety issues, the blade does not give confidence when used.
My knife was defective I think or at least I hope so. It’s been two weeks now and the auto spring broke. Then closing the knife because of the broken spring destroyed the blade. Over all I enjoyed the knife in the short time it actually worked.
