Mixed feelings
Phillip D.
I have mixed feelings about this knife. It does flip great. Since there is no detent like a traditional flipper, the blade flies out. Once the lock is disengaged, it falls shut effortlessly.

My knife came poorly ground, and the secondary tip started to flatten from hitting the back spacer. I contacted Buck and sent it in for warranty. They fixed one miss-grind, and the flatten secondary tip but did not fix the other miss grind. They also adjusted the lock so its easier to close one-handed. Lastly, the first 2/3 of the blade is crazy sharp, but the last 1/3 and front edge are dull.
Locking mechanism is easy to close

Hi Robert L.,

If you watch a few YouTube Buck Marksman reviews: you'll see how to close the blade with one hand. It's not a difficult technique to quickly master. Good luck!

Amazing knife

Barely tap it and the knife flies open, and once you get used to the strap lock it closes like a benchmade. By far the best flipper I have ever handled. I'm also a sucker for blackwash finishes, it's why I chose this over the other model.

The only changes I'd make would be to lose the thumb hole, and smooth out the handle around the pocket clip as it tends to eat your pockets.
Locking mechanism a little hard

I bought the buck marksman and the only reason it does not have 5 stars is the locking mechanism is not easy to unlock. It's definitely a two handed operation. I'm used to a little more ease of use but I still would not discourage a purchase of this fine knife. I love buck knives.
