A+ Hunting Knife
Preston H. on Jan 6, 2018

This is a superb hunting knife. It's the kind of classic hunting knife that will get passed down to my son and his son, and hopefully even further! This has been my go-to hunting knife for several years know, and has helped me clean several deer and a couple of elk. The blade stays sharp and is easy to touch up when it loses its edge.

Great Hunting Knife
William C. on Jun 26, 2021

Few people know that hunting deer, boar and foxes is a year round even in Australia. For that reason a great hunting knife is needed. I was eyeing off this Buck knife for a while and decided to purchase it from Blade HQ, I wasn't disappointed and I'm stoked! Positives, the knife arrived in good time and it was everything described, the fit in the hand is really nice, the blade comes sharp (just under shaving sharp), the wood is nice an smooth and the whole package is very well put together. The leather sheath could be improved, when put under the lighter, the plastic sub-straight melted quickly (Real leather doesn't burn like that). All together, a great knife at a great price and it will have many years of skinning game ahead. Better still, the price on Blade HQ in the US. In Australia this knife retails for $289 to $349 or $200 USD to $ $265 USD!

A Beautiful Heirloom Knife
John C. on Jan 5, 2018

I purchased this knife as a gift for my father. The knives he had been using for hunting were starting to deteriorate and show their age, so I wanted to get him something very nice, and very special. Since we are somewhat of a Buck-loyal family, I went with the Vanguard because I fell in love with its shape, materials, and overall look. Unsurprisingly, my father loves this knife and has processed several deer with it already. It is very comfortable in the hand, and the blade is extremely sharp and holds its edge very well. The sheath that is included is also of great quality and compliments the knife nicely. It makes me happy that my father enjoys this knife, and I think it makes him happy to know it will be passed down through our family through the ages.

Nice Knife but...
Don M. on Aug 11, 2020

The knife is awesome. Feels great in the hand and looks great too. My only complaint, and where I think Buck could have paid more attention to detail at, is the sheath. The snaps are placed in locations on the inside that scratch the brass each time the knife is placed into or removed from the sheath. There is a piece of black plastic inside the sheath to prevent the scratching however it's too small and the one I got was damaged and moved around a lot. I had to get some plastic and construct a spacer of my own. Buck could have done better here.

I trust Buck Knives.

I use this knife for camp chores. The legendary heat treatment that Buck applies to the steel does make a noticeable difference from other 420 steels.

Good hunting knife. Great warranty
Daniel P. on Jan 6, 2018

Knife was sharp and held its edge very well. The sheath is adequate and the knife itself is easy to sharpen and beautiful. The blade chipped in several spots trying to separate joints on the deer i was skinning. I sent it back to buck and they replaced it for the cost of return shipping
