Description

This model of the CIVIVI Wyvern sports a satin drop point blade made from Damascus steel and a black FRN handle.

The CIVIVI Wyvern is a slim, lightweight folder with a textured FRN handle and a D2 steel blade. The blade flips open easily, as it runs on a stainless steel ball bearing pivot. The textured handle offers excellent grip in any situation. A titanium pocket clip is included and is set for tip-up carry.

I love this knife!
What's good about it? Lightweight, well-sized, durable, off-beat, beautiful, and that OG titanium pocket clip!
The blade length is in that gray area where the blade is neither large nor small, but is just right. It has a nice profile, and a thin, hollow grind. My example came razor sharp, and I've just kept it in check with ceramics or a strop. And as long as I'm talking about the blade, I'd like to state its components: 9Cr18MoV and 10Cr15CoMoV. And I have absolutely no problem with this. Its performance is adequate for any cutting task I've given it, and the cutting performance is only hindered by inherent limitations of the knife's design (e.g., liner lock as opposed to fixed blade capability). Thanks to having two stainless steels in one blade, it is a fairly maintenance-free tool. Jimping on the ramp of the blade is actually great, and helps to index and provide very positive grip.
The handle is neutral, which makes for excellence.
The pocket clip is fantastic and is nice looking, and blows Civivi's steel clips out of the water. It also does not produce any hot spots.

On the neutral? I couldn't care less about the weird blade cutouts that Civivi does on some of their knives. It's a bit on the small side to be used as an opening method, and it already has a flipper tab. I'll just say that it does technically aid in weight reduction.

On the bad? There are only two things I don't like. The first is the available colors for Damascus steel blades. You can have any color you want, as long as it's black.
The second is the construction of the handle. I would have much preferred the back screws to clamp both handle scales, rather than whatever friction/mechanical method is securing the female end to the FRN. Neither of these things affects function whatsoever, and are nitpicks.

On the whole, whether you would like the D2 or Damascus blade version of this model, do not hesitate. If you're on the fence, do not hesitate. If you're just looking for an interesting collection or EDC piece, again, do not hesitate.
