The Lucas Burnley designed Obake fixed blade knife from CRKT is based on the classic Japanese Kwaiken blade. This knife has a gray titanium nitride coated blade with an acid etched pattern finish. Full-tang construction with a black Katana style nylon wrapped handle. The Obake includes an injection molded sheath for secure and consistent retention.
I love this little knife especially when I got it several years back for cheap. I’m glad to see it gain value over the year wish I would’ve got the other models that are discontinued now
I have had this knife for several years now, and it has been carried pretty much every day since. For me the included static line is a great attachment method for everyday carry. For heavier duty work a more traditional belt clip is better but this is one of the few medium sized fixed blades you can reliably conceal in a tucked in shirt. the resin soaked cord wrap provides a secure grip.
I tried out a few fixed blade options for EDC (Benchmade SOCP and Cold Steel Safe Maker II) and this cheap little spike is my favorite. The handle is great, the edge is great, the weird pattern on the blade is acceptable. I'd prefer a plain satin finish but at this price point that's really nit-picking. The skull bead is a bit much but it's simple to pop off of there so whatever. It fits very snug in the sheath without any rattle at all and pops out one handed with a push of the thumb. If I lost or damaged this one I'd buy another without thinking about it. I'm considering buying another anyway just in case they stop making them.
Had this blade for around a year now and loving it, wear it all around town as suggested by the designer and works great. Took it into the amazon jungle for a month and hardly rusted, excellent for an all around small blade
Love it . I just let it hang off belt in fact I just ordered the little brother so I don't feel bad When I use this 1 .. Its a must have
I bought this knife when it first came out, loved the acid etch on the blade and the whole in the waist and carry. It’s great with the versatility. I’ve taken this on long car trips and it’s been very comfortable. The retention of the sheath is very good. The steel also takes quite a edge in my expireneses. I’ve used those for some minor tasks like cutting an orange, cutting zip ties, and a back up. That’s pretty much all.
Just got mine in the mail today. Right out of the box, the blade is sharp as fuck. Wrapping on ray skin is quality, and the blade itself looks beautiful. Sheath is a little tight, but the ripcord system makes for easy deployment and stowing. I'm planning on getting another one for myself later on. 5 Stars.
This is the blade that really got me into knives!!! Great blade, great designer, good sheath, horrible belt clip.
Honestly love this knife for edc
Really good concealed carry option for defense, almost invisible to the eye. good looking blade and very grippy. Very sharp from factory. Overall, is a stunning and good looking knife for defense.
this blade is great as a great option for anyone looking to carry a fixed blade! stupid sharp, really grippy, and lightweight! I got this to carry when I'm walking to and from college.
So I love the look of this knife & definitely use it as a self defense blade. Super sharp & pointy, weight & thickness is good. Ok for EDC but waistband carry digs into my belly at times. So I prefer pocket carry. Sheath/ lanyard combo is great!
I used to EDC this knife for a long time until I found the Akari and Achi, but I keep this one in my messenger bag and couldn’t be happier with it!
I can't lie I got this knife to just play with and just to have one, after I got it and actually used it I realized it's a really well designed knife for self defense and anything else you want really. For the price it's well worth it.
The blade on this thing is razor sharp and the feel of the knife in hand is unlike any other.
I like it. It comes laser sharp. Comparable to Spyderco Para Military 2 sharp. The sheath is solid, and I have no concerns about the knife coming lose. I've used the knives all the time, on a plethora of different cutting projects, and it's still sharp. All in all, I give it nine out of ten.
It's awesome. For a self defense knife the steel is just fine and its unobtrusive and you barely even know its there. The paracord handle the way they do it makes it very grippy and it's just a very good looking knife. I've had it for about 3 or 4 years and the coating has held up very well also.
This is a cool little defense knife. Multiple ways to carry this baby as she slides comfortably into the wasteband. Sharp and pointy blade that is excellent at slashing. Worth the price for sure. I keep it by the ol bedside for security.
I can't get enough of these Burnley crkts.... I ordered this and obake skoshie and I can fit them both on the same tech lock and carry one big and one little....just like a samurai!!!! The blade is thin but I trust it.... I havent pushed it hard, only for slicing... It will see much more use in the future....
This knife has been a daily companion for me since the day I bought it. I use it as a belt knife. The belt clip it comes with is useless for concealed carry as I do with mine, so I rigged up an upright system on the sheath with paracord. The blade is wicked sharp and the handle is comfortable enough. With hard use, the handle material eats into your skin. DO NOT WEAR THIS KNIFE AGAINST BARE SKIN AT ANY COST! The handle wrapping will agitate your skin to the point of not using the knife. Wear an undershirt with it and you'll be fine. As a knife reviewer, I come across many, many, many, knives. And this is the first fixed blade, besides my boot knife that never sees action, that I actually carry every day. Not to mention, the first fixed blade I actually use regularly. I'd definitely give this knife my seal of approval. And seeing as I carry ZTs and Benchmades, the fact that I use this knife at all speaks to how good it is.
