Description

The CRKT Compact Razel takes from the popularity of the original Razel and comes in a classed-up, smaller offering. This impressive folding knife features carbon fiber handle scales that offer a lot of purchase on the knife. The spine of the blade has aggressive jimping, providing excellent grip and control. A small flipper nub can be used to start the opening process of the knife, then you can use the thumb stud to open it all the way. A tip-down deep carry pocket clip is provided for discreet and convenient everyday carry.

I love this little knife, but it claimed its blood sacrifice early on. The thumb studs are textured enough to use for flipping it open, but the thickness of the handle combined with the sharp corner of the blade puts the heel of your thumb in harm's way. As long as you don't insist on flipping it open, it's a great knife for everyday tasks.

The pros: The knife looks sharp for a sub $25 price point. Blade comes sharp and deployment, while not a true flipper, is very manageable. Also, for a small knife it is surprisingly manageable for larger hands like mine.

Cons: Pocket clip could be a little easier to work with and the knife is a tad bulky for a smaller knife.

All in all, this is a very affordable knife that functions well for simple EDC tasks such as opening boxes, cutting cord, etc.
Great little beefcake.

I'm loving this knife so far. I've always wanted a Razel, but CRKT's first one is too big, IMO, and the real Graham's are too rare and expensive for me.

For a sub $25 CRKT the build quality and fit/finish are actually really good. Or, I just got lucky. The grind is fine, lockup is rock sold, no blade play, centering is perfect, and the scales (despite being a CF sticker) look quite nice.

The blade is where this thing wins, or loses, depending on your personal opinion and usage. I personally find the odd shape compelling and very useful. Absolutely not for food prep (well, maybe shaving garlic or ginger), but excellent for opening packages, scraping, sharpening pencils, etc. and around the shop. Sharpening will probably take a little extra time, as it's essentially two blades in one.

For its size it's very heavy, and it is totally not a fast flipper/flicker. The thumb studs work for a slower roll-out, though.. That thing that looks like a flipper tab isn't. In fact, I don't know why its there, other than maybe to extend the 'guard' to make it safer for use as a scraper with more force.
I don't know the blade steel, but I assume 8cr13mov or AUS 8, like most inexpensive knives. The clip is only tip down too, which will bother many. It doesn't bother me, however.

All said, this is a better than average Cricket, and it very much keeps with their penchant for making weird knives affordable. For ~$25, you can't really go wrong.

This is a cool little knife. The nub on the back is not a flipper tab. I tried to use it as one and cut the palm of my hand. The corners of the sharp blade are very sharp indeed. The construction is very good as well as the fit and finish. It's heavier than it looks but it is made of steel not titanium. For the price this is a very good knife.
Can't beat

Can't beat this little folder.... It came super sharp on every edge....the action is very smooth and it fits into your pocket much better than it's bigger brother.... The carbon fiber looks really good to.... Very happy with this knife!
