It's a very interesting idea - a knife that can be disassembled without tools.

The blade steel is less than it should be - 1.4116. I don't even know what that is.

The design is excellent. You can field strip this knife in about 15 seconds.

I like the ergonomics of the knife. The length, for me is about perfect, because I can wrap all of my fingers around it, and about half inch of the butt is exposed. I dislike knives that don't provide enough room for all of my fingers.

The GRN (glass reinforced nylon) is suitably stiff and feels really good in your hand. The flipper has the right amount of resistance. I like that the eyelet-style flipper doesn't extend far from the body, which means that it doesn't catch on the edge of your pocket.

Because the blade runs on nylon washers, a slight flick of the wrist helps lock the blade into place when you hit the flipper.

The deep-carry clip can't be moved and provides for tip-up carry. When you wrap your hand around the knife, you don't feel the clip.

The knife feels very well balanced - neither handle- nor blade-heavy.

The lock bar requires light effort to release the blade. The blade is centered when in the closed position.

The only thing that I would suggest is a blade made from a higher grade of steel.
Tear it up.

Got two do these for a father's day gift for my dad a few years ago (one for myself of course). This thing is the perfect work knife, and we would both attest to that. it can take some moderate abuse too. i work in construction so I've had to use it for everything from whistling 2x4's for firewood to cutting open cardboard boxes, to slicing up sheet after sheet after sheet of floorshell, (really thick cardboard you lay down on tile/wood floor to keep from getting dirty or damaged) and that stuff eats knives like nothing I've seen. You might as well beat your blade on a brick. But a quick session on a sharpener and it's ready to go again. I've even used this thing to eat my lunch a few times when I've left my utensils at home. It was pretty easy actually. And afterwards the field strip tech made cleaning it a breeze. the only thing that would show it's age is that the black coating on the blade has come off in places, but that's too be expected. Not to mention whenever the day comes that it does give out (if it ever does that is) the crkt warranty will take care of it. Love the knife, it just wants to work, any fellow construction industry workers need a good knife, here's ya one right here. Show it a little love here and there (resharpen and clean it from time to time) and it'll last ya.
Homefront Knife - disappointment

Wonderful break down design and operation. However, blade play is terrible and because of the design with nylon bushings being compressed (with no spares) blade play will only get worse.

Most disappointing, partial liner lock up design bods poorly for long term durability along with the low quality of the handles, blade and hardware screams low bid.

The design is why I purchased, it is the execution in production which fails.

i love the unique and clever field strip technology on this, it makes the knife one of a kind in my collection (for now!) and something that i can take out and get dirty and not have to worry about taking it apart and losing anything i need to put it back together again. smooth opening and i often find myself flicking it open and closed when i get bored and need something to fidget with!

I really love this knife. The first impression, intimidating. This is a kick trash tactical knife that I trust will protect my "Homefront" The action is silky smooth and the field strip tech is so clever and so useful. Defiantly would recommend purchasing this knife.
