CRKT collaborated with custom knifemaker Tom Krein to develop the Mossback Bird and Trout fixed blade. It has a black powder coated SK5 high carbon steel blade for a keen cutting edge and the G10 handle is contoured to accommodate prolonged use. Includes a nylon sheath for belt carry.Features:
Very nice knife overall. Inexpensive but feels solidly made. Grip is fine in my medium-sized hands and with the finger guard and swell in the back it's not going anywhere in use. Nice blade, very slicey, and I had light food prep in mind when I bought it. Pretty sharp OOTB with an evenly ground bevel. It really is carbon steel—there was a bit of light rust on the tip just from being in storage. A rust eraser or strop ought to clean it up no problem, and I might keep it in the kitchen to slice citrus and see if I can get a patina going. And the stripe pattern is subtler in real life than the contrasty photo makes it seem. Obviously not for heavy duty but for general use and certainly for small game it should be great and about as well-built and stylish as you could hope for in a knife this inexpensive. The nylon sheath is firm and stiff and holds the knife securely.
