Description

Description

Camillus has introduced this cool new knife with a unique opening mechanism - use your thumb to slide the G10 tab along the groove. The blade is Japanese AUS-8 steel with a Carbonitride Titaniumô coating for durability. The handles are textured G10 over a stainless liner-lock frame. Stainless pocket clip (tip-down) and a hole for a lanyard. Great quality knife for the price, hard to beat!

I didn't actually buy this one on Blade HQ so I'm cheating a little bit, but I wanted to brag on this knife some. I was Army Infantry and I carried this thing the majority of my enlistment. It's one of the oldest knives in my collection, and I've since learned a lot and moved to higher quality knives. This one still gets occasional pocket time though because it suits my taste. It's not a super steel by any stretch of the imagination, but it sharpens back to factory sharpness in seconds. The thumb disc is a strange opening and you probably won't like it at first, but if you carry it for a while it becomes second nature. The coating that Camillus uses on the blade is spectacular though. It holds up against rather serious wear. It just "feels right" to me. Especially if you are doing rough cutting and stabbing tasks on a day to day basis like I did with this. It feels rather minimalist too - simple, long utility shaped blade and g-10 handle. It is tip down only, but I typically carry my knives tip down because I am used to the rotating motion anyway. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but it was and still is mine. You'll either love it or hate it.
