The Ti-Lock knife is a collaboration between the innovative design team of Grant and Gavin Hawk and Chris Reeve Knives. In early 2010, the Hawks showed Chris the concept of a new locking mechanism, one that Chris felt he could engineer and Chris Reeve Knives could manufacture. It has been a lack of capacity not a lack of desire that has precluded Chris Reeve Knives from producing Hawk Designs thus far. It is an honor to present the Ti-Lock

The Ti-Lock mechanism was originally conceived as a means to isolate the lock from the body of the knife, in order to allow more design freedom for handle and frame. The Ti-Lock is completely ambidextrous, allowing equal left and right hand use.

The Ti-Lock is not an exercise in ultimate lock strength; it is an exercise in mechanical innovation and an illustration of a passion shared by Grant, Gavin and Chris. This passion is also shared by many of their customers—those who buy our knives in appreciation of the design, quality and precision put into our product.

This Ti-Lock has a stone wash finished S35-VN stainless steel blade and titanium handle. The pocket clip is bead blast finished. See pictures above.

Ahh genius design!

I bought this knife because Nick Shabazz recommended it. I'm so grateful for his recommendation because this is a design masterpiece. This locking mechanism allows your finger to be away from the closing path. When it's open, your thumb sits on the lock-bar to secure the blade in place. The art-deco style is beautiful, and the color choice is tasteful.
The only rag I have is that the bigger finger choil is too behind for both middle finger and index finger. The two choils should be closer to each other, and the second one needs to be smaller to offer a better grip.

I received a Blue Steam version of this knife for a birthday gift from my wife July 2015 ordered here from BHQ. I carried it every day all day for the first 13 months or so. It is very elegant yet designed for daily use and has great ergonomics.

The edge retention has been great with the updated heat treat of 59-60 for the S35VN blade. The lock is sturdy and with the finger choil you have a full four finger grip even with my large size hands.

The bearing pivot has also held up nicely and actually requires less maintenance than you would think. Compared to cleaning my sebenza I used to own every month or two. The Ti lock stays smooth for six months with no issues. The only thing I will say negative is do not use it in extremely muddy environments. Sand does not effect action but mud will affect the smoothness of opening due to the lock bar riding on the frame if you do not wipe it off. If the clip turns you off, just order up a small sebenza clip and your issues will be solved as it fits perfectly.

The design is well thought out and with that said it reliably locks up with zero blade play and still funtions like new almost two years later. It is my at home and special occasion knife. But still gets occasional use as a utility knife when the talk is within reason.
