This Counter Tac II model is now outfitted with a high performance AUS-8A steel blade and a Kray-Ex handle. The Counter TAC boot knives were designed with the idea that good design never goes out of style. It's dagger blade is hollow ground and ends in a sturdy but needle sharp point thats ideal for effortless penetration. The ergonomic design of the Kray-Ex grip is comfortable and adaptable to any fighting style, and the deeply textured surface and double guard will insure that the knife is not likely to slip from your hand under any circumstances. The Counter TAC is shipped with a Secure-Ex sheath, complete with a removable boot/belt clip and lashing slots so you can carry or conceal it just about anywhere.
This is a boot dagger, not an EDC utility blade. It is designed to be easily concealed, and to penetrate soft targets efficiently, and it does those things extremely well. If you are looking for an edc fixed blade to open boxes or cut an apple, do not purchase this knife. If you are looking for a personal defense knife, this is an excellent option. It does have a stout chisel ground blade, and while it can cut some materials (especially if you know how to sharpen) it is not designed for that purpose. The handle is long enough for me to get a full hold, and the material is textured and rubbery. It does not turn in the hand during use; very sticky by design. There is a comfortable and highly protective cross guard that makes this very safe to use. The tip dives through material effortlessly, and the blade steel is well heat treated Japanese stainless steel, an excellent tried and true material that offers a nice balance of toughness, edge stability and corrosion resistance. While you can sharpen the edges to improve cutting performance for slashing, it is not necessary for piercing. Between the weight, sheath quality, length, balance, materials, and design, this knife represents an outrageously good value, and you won't find anything else as good for the price. Taylor brands (S&W, Old Timer, Schrade ect...) offer a few compact boot daggers in the ultra/budget range, and while they may meet your needs, for just a few bucks more, you can have this, which is far beyond adequate in my opinion. I left mine in the rain for days on accident, with zero staining on the blade. This dagger will last a lifetime, and it stays fastened to my boot; I trust it completely. Just buy it. Hell...buy 2.
The best thing about this knife is the sheath, it makes zero noise when you shake it and the retention is great. On the downside the knife is a chisel grind and not a very sharp one either. Not sure what the use of this knife is but it doesn't fill many roles too well.
