Description

Description

The Micro Recon series from Cold Steel shares most of the same features as its bigger siblings. The differences are the use of super lightweight, strong Faux G-10 handle slabs and a small key ring for attachment to keychain, packs, etc.

The blades are made out of imported Japanese AUS 8A stainless steel that's been vacuum heat treated and sub-zero quenched and the handles feature faux G-10 scales artfully contoured and scalloped for a terrific non slip grip. Plus, they are held together by the latest in high strength mechanical fasteners and further anchored by a 6061 heat-treated spacer. To complement their super tough blades and handles they're equipped with Cold Steel's revolutionary Tri-Ad lock™ , which practically precludes lock failure.

To complement their tactical mission Cold Steel has given each blade a tough, black, Tuff-Ex finish. Testing has shown this coating offers three major advantages for tactical blades. First, it helps the blade to resist rust. Second, it eliminates glare and light reflections, which may give its user away. And third, it's a superior lubricant, which causes the blade to slip through even tough material with markedly less friction. This means you can cut deeper and far longer than with a non-Tuff-Ex coated blade.

Within the right role, this is a great knife. I recommend it as a back-up, or even back-ups back-up. Personally, I have this knife hanging out on my key-chain. I rock a carabiner-belt-loop-carry for my keys. Kinda nerdy but it allows me to carry more, while also making more room in my pocket for a primary EDC knife and light.

Description:
Super tiny and light, yet this thing packs a Tri-Ad lock...nifty. I also appreciate the aggressive G-10 considering its small size. After a lot of research I found it to be one of the best knives for the key-chain option as it gives you a lot of knife for the size and price ($20 on Amazon, sorry guys) when compared to something like the hipster WESN micro-blade made of the same steel and a lesser locking mechanism/handle material. A small knife capable of taking a beating should you so choose.

This is my “where the hell is my knife” back up knife. Super small/slim but still packing a Tri-Ad lock. It is always in my Maxpedition Mini Pocket Organizer that I carry at work. It’s also the first knife I managed to get my girlfriend to carry. Its size wasn’t as intimidating to her as some other knives I showed her.
