The Trail Boss from Cold Steel is light and compact enough to carry all day in your hand or strapped to your pack, yet heavy and tough enough for chores that would make a hatchet or regular tomahawk scream for mercy. Great balance, sharpens easily, very comfortable to use. Great for trail, around home for kindling or small branches/trees or auto for unforseen events. Everybody needs one...you get way more than what it costs! Needs a sheath bad!
This ax is a perfect ax for the price. The handle feels wonderful and after a little working is perfect for exiting strikes. Big bites come from the heafty head and it preforms like an ax double the price at least.
What a great little Axe. I have never bought anything this size but this thing feels awesome. Spent a good 15 minutes sharpening and putting a coat of linseed oil. But this thing feel great in the hands. Very sharp edge after sharpening was able to make feather sticks very easy. Cut kindling out of some tried up Ash tree and it felt like butter. The head looks big in pictures and I was concerned about that when buying. Was very happy to see that its size fits great with the handle. Handle made of hickory and feels really nice. I would not hesitate to buy this axe. I have not field tested much yet but I can tell I will really enjoy it
