In 46 years I've never seen a better made sodbuster.

Great Eastern Cutlery is making the finest traditional knives today and arguably the best ever. GEC makes knives the old fashion way by hand and on machines that were used 100 years ago. The #71 Bullnose is the typical sodbuster pattern. The pull is strong, but can be pinched open, unless you have problems such as arthritis. The knife snaps shut just as strong. The knife does have a half stop to help protect your fingers. The blade steel is 1095 carbon steel, which holds a good edge and is easy to sharpen. 1095 will patina nicely, due to it not being stainless steel. If you dont like patina just keep the blade clean and use mineral oil to protect against corrosion. Flitz polish can be used to remove most patina that might form. The covers are thick and long enough to give an excellent full four finger grip, even with gloves on. This knife is definitely a workhorse and can probably last a lifetime if maintained properly.
