The handle also features a heavy duty pommel at the butt end of the handle and twin holes for use in lashing the knife to a stick for use as a spear. The included lanyard has an emergency whistle for alerting help and rescue.

The sheath for the Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Knife is loaded with features. The light-weight, military grade sheath has a slick water tight fire steel starter, ferrocerium rod that locks into sheath for use with the striker notch on the spine of the knife's blade. There is also an integrated diamond sharpener for sharpening in the field. Included in the sheath is Bear's Priorities of Survival pocket guide.

Good Camping Knife
John B.
This knife is OK. I bought it before the pro came out and was very disappointed to learn that it wasn't a full tang. I do love the sheath when camping I wear it horizontal at the small of my back. The ferrous rod can fall out easily so I moved the whistle lanyard from the knife to the rod and looped in the middle of the sheath so that it stays locked in and won't get lost.

I like the look of Statgear Fixed blade better. That will be my replacement when this dies.
