Customer Reviews
The Elmax steel is amazing and the thumb studs are a tad sticky upon arrival. Once properly broke in, this knife is butter.
Its a great little EDC addition to any rotation and the micarta scales are supple and attractive. The orange color accents really set this knife off!
This blade is as aesthetically pleasing as it appears in heavily-filtered social media posts.
Some fit-and-finish concerns have been voiced in other reviews, and while I did not have any issues with my purchase I can say that this knife receives less carry time than my Biblio or Iona. This is principally due to hand-feel (the micarta is smooth, in contrast to the texture of the Biblio) and ergos which don't fit my preferences as well as the other ACE products.
The thumb studs on this item are not as harsh to the feel as those on the Iona, and the orange accents work well. I also found no rough edges on my scales. The lanyard hole placement works well and doesn't interfere with a working grip on this item.
I'd still have to say that I feel something is "lacking" with this item relative to the Iona / Biblio and their relative price points. Granted, there are differences in operating mechanism and specs, but this item doesn't feel as "solid" in-hand.
My purchase did arrive with a razor-sharp factory edge and a wicked tip, which was not the case with my Iona.
I don't think this blade could stand in for my Biblio in my daily use, but it has a more refined air to it which could make it a viable contender for light / office use.
The Clyde is definitely a different animal from the Biblio, even though it's pretty well the same length.
In the hand, it feels far smaller, lighter and overall less substantial. This isn't a bad thing, as some may prefer the slimness and less weight. For me, it's a little small. While the blade shape is very cool looking, I worry about chipping or breaking that very fine tip under hard use. (This isn't a dig on the knife, as I knew this going in.)
The fit and finish on my Clyde it stellar. The scales are beautiful, the clip is awesome. The blade came very sharp, is incredibly well finished and perfectly centered when closed.
The open/close action is very good, and using the thumb stud is pretty easy. However, I would prefer a flipper of some sort..
Basically I like this knife a lot.. Just not as much as my Biblio.
