The GiantMouse ACE Nimbus is a rugged, utilitarian folder inspired by the Danish motorcycle of the same name. This EDC all-rounder is comfortable in hand thanks to the thoughtfully-designed handle shape. The Nimbus is true to the lines commonly found in Nordic tool knives, but adds a modern touch with subtle chamfering and sleek ergos. GiantMouse knives are designed by noted knifemakers Jens Anso and Jesper Voxnaes! Each of their creations feature premium materials for affordable prices.
This is a great knife, it feels like a custom piece but doesnt have the high custom knife price tag. Ergonomics are excellent.
Overview: Aesthetics - Beautiful Fit and Finish - Excellent Ergonomics - Very good Edge - Very good Traction - Good Clip - Excellent Lockup - Excellent Blade centering - Excellent Size - medium Weight - Average This is my second Giantmouse Ace knife, and I couldn't be happier. They are quickly becoming my favorite brand. The knife is a work of art. I love the shape and style work so well together. It seems to have an almost Nordic motif to it or something like that, but i cant quite put my finger on it. Something about how the spine of the blade is rounded and how the jimping and overall shape look. Its captivating to me. Anyway, the the fit and finish are amazing. The blade came very sharp out of box and holds an edge well, as is expected of M390. The pocket clip is nice and discreet, as well as reversible for us lefties. Normally I prefer a slightly larger knife than this, like in the 3.5 inch range, but when I use this knife it feels larger than it is somehow. Its size also lends itself better to the professional environments i find myself in for work. I install commercial window treatments (roller shades and blinds) in a lot of offices and hospitals, including places like Michelin, Milliken, etc. So it feels awkward to pull out a full size tactical blade to open some boxes. Tends to get you some weird looks. This knife doesn't get you those weird looks. Its small and elegant enough to fit in in those places. The action on the knife is very smooth. The deployment option is pretty limited though. If you are holding it in your right hand you have to use your thumb to flick it out. Its hard to spydie flick since the handle scale covers the other side of the blade quite a bit where where isn't a cutout. In the left hand your best option is the spydie flick since again, the side of the blade your thumb is on now doesn't have a cutout like the other side so its hard to get your thumb on it. I wouldn't say its the easiest knife to deploy quickly. That being said, ever since I got this knife a month ago, Its pretty much the only knife I've carried. By this point I've opened and cut up countless boxes with it, and its still pretty sharp. Its barely hair shaving sharp, but it can still do it. Overall its a very solid knife, and worth the money in my opinion.
This knife is fairly new to me. It's about 2 weeks old in my hands, but in that 2 weeks I have been quite impressed. I work at a warehouse so cutting cardboard, shrink wrap, and zip ties are just a few of the daily tasks I do that put this knife to the test. The edge lasts forever, easily could have gone these 2 weeks with hard use without the need to sharpen it. Cuts cardboard in droves like butter, the handle fills my hand nicely and the aesthetics take this knife a very long way for me. Hope this review encourages someone on the fence to give it a shot!
