The 1385 Kershaw Airlock gets its name from its lightweight design. It features a steel liner and FRN scales. They are cut with a window to decrease the weight of the knife. The 4Cr13 stainless steel blade is bead-blasted for a matte finish. The Airlock boasts Kershaw's patented SpeedSafeĀ® assisted opening system for a fast, safe open. A lanyard hole and reversible tip-up carry pocket clip top off the item.
Out of the box, the blade is very sharp, locks positively, feels well constructed. It's the 6th knife I've purchased from Blade HQ, look forward to more.
I don't know why Kershaw decided to go ultra-budget with this design that really captures the design language of the brand. With a decent manual action, and a slightly better blade steel (8cr is fine) this would be a really good knife. As it is, it just doesn't make it into the pocket when there are tons of options that can hold an edge.
