The 1180 Kershaw Aftereffect is a small thumb-stud knife designed by Jens Anso. It has a comfortable FRN handle that houses an 8Cr13MoV blade. That blade can be opened with the nudge of the thumb stud. It's held in place with a liner lock. Includes a deep carry pocket clip and a blue back spacer that doubles as a lanyard hole for easy carry. You can't go wrong with the Aftereffect : It's everything you need in a knife is a highly functional, yet small package.
I must admit when I received this it was a little smaller than I thought it was going to be but after using it for a few days it actually has good ergonomics and feel in the hand. It is a little knife but it has a strong cutting belly on it and it does the job for most small tasks just fine.
This little knife feels SO GOOD in the hand, and the big sweeping belly but short blade make it awesome for an office work EDC. There are a lot of small knives in this category and while it doesn't compete with my McBee for materials, this one is perfectly proportioned and does NOT feel cheep in any way. I can easily flick it open using the stud, and the liner lock is perfectly placed for one hand closing. For the price, you get a lot of design and engineering in this little knife that acts bigger than it is. It's a LITTLE too large for a keychain in my opinion, but disappears clipped to a pocket or tucked into a bag. Kershaw again makes a beautiful design by Anso available at a very good price.
I wanted a small edc for my 8 year old daughter, something that had a pocket clip, lanyard hole, was lightweight, easy to handle and easy to unlock. This checked all of those boxes for me and the knife overall is a nice little piece. Fit and finish are very good for this price point.
