This knife is HEAVY. I'm not sure if that's a pro or con considering I'm not really into self defense. But I got this knife because I liked the blade shape and the wave feature and I was curious about it. I'm not able to close it one handed due to the frame lock which I think is just because of its size. This definitely seems like a good knife for its' purpose given it's heft and blade shape, it's just not for me.
Best self defense knife

This knife comes sharp out of the box, on the first day I cut myself and didn't even notice. This is the best value knife if you're looking for a self defense knife it's got a great size, grip, and deployment to it for an excellent price.
The price is right

Itís a very good knife for the money, came very sharp, decent centering and fits well in the hand. Only issue is the decent is very light, I am ok with this though as I usually just wave it out anyways.

This is a great option for a fast draw edc. I got a more expensive knife in the same order and still find myself carrying this one lol.
Really good for the price

What surprised me most was the action. It was surprisingly smooth, almost drop shutting. The wave feature is handy but the thumb disk is not as useful or reliable as a thumb stud. For the price it would be a good daily carry for those who like bigger knives and lower cost.
Great collaboration

Really like this knife. Slim and comfortable for the large size. Does not print in pocket and opens extremely fast due to wave, blade shape for penetration and slicing. Came quite Sharp. Price makes this a no brainer( is that a word). Awesome.
Great knife at this price

Great knife and super cool flip design in my opinion. The knife Iíd heavy but if youíre like me and love to play with sharp things this knife should keep you entertained.

I donít have much experience with the knife because I donít carry it enough.

Great deal on a good knife that I got because I have no self control on this website and I thought collecting knives would be much cheaper than my already retirement fund
crippling gun collection. Buy the knife though itís sweet.

Kershaw Emerson is one that should probably be in every collector's collection. The sturdy, tough construction does not let you forget about the 6.1 oz in your pocket. When you open it, it is all of 9 inches. The blade is sharp, true, and ready to go out of the plastic. The wave feature works as advertised and, for me, leaves nothing to be desired. If I could have two complaints, it would be that it rides high in the pocket and it is very prone to opening in the pocket. When you close the blade it lacks the finishing "stick" that most unassisted folders seem to have, a fact that Matt C. could probably relate to. In all, it is a good knife, with a fair blade, for a great price. 78/100 Would recommend to a large handed friend.
Great deal on a cool knife.

Got a lot of knives but wanted a weak side front pocket knife for work. Cheap enough to get my badge number added onto the blade for just a few bucks extra. Mine came sharp and in perfect shape.

For $20 this thing is a steal! You are getting a whole lot of knife for the price and the Emerson Wave is hella cool!

This thing is definitely on the "murdery" side of the scale and is not subtle, but at the same time it not over the top and aggressive.

I love the wave feature and that alone is worth the price of admission.

If this knife was selling for MSRP, the blade steel and some of the fit and finish issues (frame lock sticks a bit) would bother me a bit, but can't complain at $20

While I like the size and weight of this knife, the quick open "wave" option leaves something to be desired. I carried the knife tip up like you're supposed to, and it came open in my pocket. I reached in for my wallet and cut a huge gash in my thumb.

Serious design flaw!! While I basically like the knife overall, I'm not planning on carrying it again! A knife carried tip up needs some kind of locking mechanism.

This sale is incredible, I donít think you can get a better knife for $20. It came razor sharp, blade centering was spot on, and thereís little to no blade wobble. Took a while to get used to the thumb disk since this was my first but after a few days of constant fidgeting you get used to it very quickly.
Big Gem for only $20

First Emerson and I love it! Got larger hands and this knife feels great in hand. Was a big speedsafe fan but this wave opening takes the cake, so fast. Centering is perfect and has stayed with no adjusting needed so far.
Great work and defense edc blade.
Wish it came in a higher grade blade steel and in a black-wash finish on blade and frame, would gladly pay for it.
Will be buying more Emerson in the future,
Fits my large hands nice

Great knife for the money. This is my first wave opening knife. Mine came razor sharp with neat perfect blade centering favoring the frame but with some tightening of the pivot it's perfect. Teflon washers are teflon washers, they're not perfect but there definitely fine for the knife. The only downsides I see are the detent, which is very weak to the point I can shake it open, and the screws which are flathead and phillips which are easy to strip compared to torx. All in all I find that it is a very good pocket knife for the money.

Picked this up to try the wave opening feature...was always curious.

Wave thing works, but takes a little technique...first try I cut my pants behind the pocket!

Thumb opening ability sucks, its a very gritty action, I must use some wrist flicking motion to open it fully. Maybe needs fresh lube?

Handle is not to my liking, too pointy in the back, and rides too high in pocket.

Would have liked I different blade profile, but for $20 I should not complain...but could go on with other things I dislike.

I guess its just not for me.
Oh, the wave thingy does not open beer bottles...I was wondering.
Big knife, fits the Hand nice.

Like a lot of you I own several knives of varying price range and this probably has the smoothest action of them all. For the price it's hard to beat it. If you're looking for a big yet lightweight EDC, look no further.

Picked this up for EDC wave opener for my left pocket. It functions as intended and complements my Spyderco Matriarch in the right. It's definitely worth the 20 bucks...

I had earlier gotten the cqc4 that came with the pen because it was cheap. Iíve loved playing around with the wave opener and when the xl version went on sale I couldnít resist. Itís big but feels robust and was pretty sharp out of the box. Iíve carried it a couple of days so far at work and itís killed several boxes and whittled down some pallets. Successful cheap knife with no blade play and solid lock up. Only thing I can say is the detent is pretty weak and if I hold the knife and really work at it I can open it one handed with a flick. Only reason for the 4 star rating given the price!
Very smooth......

First wave opening knife I have owned, got it specifically to try out that feature.... at this price point I got way more than I expected. For being such a large knife (larger than I expected when i ordered it, my own fault for not paying attention when I order an XL) it is surprising light and easy to carry, even in dress pants. Wave works very well, and the blade is, as others have said, hair shaving sharp. One word of warning... if you have never used a wave blade before, be aware of where that blade is going to end up after you draw it... was showing a fellow knife nut how the wave feature works, and managed to slash my suit coat quite nicely.... excellent blade, especially for the price, and a good entry level Wave blade.

I got this knife because like many bladehq customers, I have a crippling addiction to knives. Iím still a student so this was about as expensive as I could go. This ended up being the best knife Iíve ever owned. The Emerson design really has use and practicality in mind, and the wave feature is great. It came hair-shaving sharp out of the package, and the edge doesnít seem to be showing any signs of dulling. Tonight I skinned a dear with no problem, even for a first-timer like me. 10/10 knife, definitely going to buy from these brands again.

Iíve carried the Emerson Super Commander, since 2011, & wouldnít trade it for any other knife made, & thatís coming from a man with Spiderco Military & Manix 2, both in 110, with G-10 scales, & some other Great Knives, but Iím a ďWaveĒ kinda man. The wave is the only one I carry! The deal on this knife is so good, I bought 6 of them! Call me ďSantaĒ!

For what you pay for, this is a great knife. I have the Cqc-9k as well and this knife is vastly surperior. It has zero blade play with a very solid lock up. It came hair shaving sharp out of the box. The thumb discs on the Cqc series arent the best, but the Emerson wave more than makes up for it. It works especially well on this blade design. Definitely worth it as a cheap impulse buy!
Great collaboration between Kershaw and Emerson

Its a pretty good knife in my opinion; for 30 bucks, you get a lot of blade. The thumb disc leaves something to be desired as far as deployment, but the wave feature works great and deploys fast. Lock up is solid, but late. Probably not a big deal and If anything goes wrong, I can always use the Kershaw warranty.

I was never into the Emerson designs initially; I thought the wave made it look ugly, but eventually I warmed up to it. I can't afford a real Emerson at the moment, and hope to get one someday, but for now, this is a great substitute for those who can't afford one.
Love it

This knife cannot be beat at the price. I bought a Kizer Sovereign, a CRKT Shenanigan and this, and this was definitely the one I was most excited for.

I carried a legitimate Emerson while working for the Sheriffs Office, sold it when I was forced out for medical reasons to pay for some dr's bills. Been wanting one again ever since but they're quite pricey.

This knife is super sharp out of the box. Cut through paper like it was nothing. It has a solid lockup and the wave is great. I've been sitting here flipping it for almost 2 hours and the already smooth action is butter now. Detent holds it in perfectly, but a wrist snap will send the blade out and give a solid lock. If you're on the fence about this, get off the fence and pick this up. Only counter point to the description is when measured my blade is about 3 3/4, which is close and maybe a bit nitpicky, but still something to know for those in areas with 4 inch laws worried about LE not measuring well if it comes up. Feels heavy enough to live up to any needs you can run into in EDC situations, and for LE out there, the quick deployment is absolutely a useful feature for seatbelts to defense.
Emerson Designed, Kershaw Built, works for me.

Came out of the box razor sharp, lockup is at about 10 percent. It's big, solid and sharp. The Wave works great, thumb disk also works very well. I only wish the blade wasn't made of 8CR and was made of 12C27 or 14C28N, but hey, beggars can't be choosers.

Side Note: Also comes with extra screws for left hand carry clip mounting. You'll want them, as the G10 side is slightly thicker and the standard screws won't work for it.
Not great, but what you would expect from Kershaw.

It's not great, but at least it was cheap. CQC-4K is one of my least favorite blade shapes from the Kershaw/Emerson line. I wish they would've made the CQC-6 into an XL instead.
I give it points for being big, the wave feature, and the low price. Quality is standard Kershaw, not bad, not great.
