I bought this knife for 20$ during the black Friday sale about 3 months ago and since had used it everyday for things like cutting boxes, plastic on everything, detailing the real Christmas tree, as well as I used it as a flat head a time or two. And it still is good enough to shave with. So the 8Cr13Mov steel holds up an edge very well and exceeded my expectations. The knife it self has held up well as I can be rough with it when it is in my pockets. I think in about a little over a years time it will start to not be as smooth as I have noticed a little more knife play since the beginning, however I think this could be due to the knife having to be broken into. Overall I think the knife is great for anything from light use to heavy daily use.

The Induction is a departure from Kershaw's typical design. It is not an assisted opening, but, relies on a unique flipper design that deploys the blade almost as fast as their assisted open models. The locking mechanism is a nice change and works almost flawlessly. One con is the lack of a deep finger choil and tang to protect your fingers. If you run into something unexpected the fingers could slide over the blade. Otherwise, a nice addition to one's collection.

New knife guy here and was looking to start my EDC collection and found this. Decided to get this since it was very budget friendly and wanted to try out the Hawk lock. Overall the blade has a great shape that looks cool and was sharp out of the box. My only qualms I have are with the backside of the handle not having textured material and the lock button being stiff and slippery after opening and closing a few times.

I actually bought this knife for two reasons, 1) the hawk lock which is unusual for Kershaw and 2) the great price at Blade HQ. The blade is attractive with the two tone finish and came paper slicing sharp right from the box. Sure the steel is the budget 8CR13MoV but for the average man's EDC that's plenty. The blade deploys smoothly and quickly. The jimping on the flipper tab is a nice touch. The aluminum handles are stout and comfy with no real hot spots. The blade is perfectly centered. The only con is it is a bit heavy but man what a great price. Buy it while you can.

I like the look of this knife and the blade release but find the grip a bit uncomfortable and bulky for a knife this size. The milled edges on the scales are not very smooth and it seems a bit heavy. A good value for the money but not up to the quality of the other Kershaw knives I own

For the price this knife is amazing. It looks great, the action is very smooth and addicting, and the the blade was able to shave my arm just fine. The only remotely negative thing is the spring on the hawk lock mechanism sometimes isn't that smooth going down, and it rattles. Besides that, as someone who has a lot of cheap knives, this is definitely my best one yet.

Kershaw, once again, manages to surprise me with their innovation and affordability. The Induction is taking what I like in knives and dialing it up to eleven. 1. Opening: Induction has an incredibly smooth action, with fairly weak retention, making for an absolutely effortless open. 2. Closing: The Hawk Lock is a budget AXIS lock. For a tenth of the price, you can get something that works 91 percent as well. Smooth, easy to work, and very efficient. 3. The clip. Quality, tip-up pocket clip. I will continue to point it out when they do the clip right because sometimes it seems to be tricky. These three factors make for a wonderful fresh knife that I can remove from my pocket, open and close four times, in under 4 seconds. There are not many knives that I can say that about.
Two items that are not the best about this blade: it is very thick/not comfortable in the pocket, and the spring inside the Hawklock is loose and rattles around annoyingly. But other than that, the Kershaw Induction is a must-have at a price you can't beat. 91/100

The Hawk lock is not that good. I have large hands and the flipper tab hits my finger when I try to close it. Main reason is the Hawk lock is only on one side of the knife.

Things I love:
- super smooth action out of the box.
- feels hefty in hand but light in pocket.
- this is my first Hawk Lock and it's everything I hoped it would be.
- the "snick" of closing sounds a lot like the Benchmade 940 (must be the aluminum!).
- blade stock is nice and thick.
- blade shape & size is a lot like the Bugout.
- on mine centering is perfect and there is no play at all.

Things I don't love so much:
- in a firm grip, your index finger is very close to the cutting edge
- the clip is pretty chintzy and not super comfortable in hand.
- the chamfers are a little on the sharp side, and I'd be worried about hot spots only for EXTENDED use.

I am blown away at how great this knife is for the price (I got it $25 on sale)! It's a decent deal at the $70 MSRP, but an amazing knife for $25! The fidget factor is great, but it's a very usable knife too.

I *wish* ZT would refine this design and release a model with higher end blade steel and a titanium frame: I would absolutely buy one!

Love this knife. Action is great, locking mechanism is fun to fidget with and locks up solidly. My only complaint is that it is very thick in the pocket. Feels great in the hand though with excellent ergos.
Great knife!!!
