Kershaw Link, alrighty, let's talk about the Link. This knife has been a favorite of mine long before I got into knives. Something about the ultra-versatile blade shape and textured backspacer just makes this knife shine. But most of all, the handle fits my hands incredibly well. I can whip the link out of my pocket and my index finger just rests on the spur naturally. I love this thing. The action is fast and easy to activate. The blade comes sharp, doesn't show marks, and has great lockup and retention. The Link (speed safe in general) can be a little tricky to close, but after a couple of days of carrying, you won't even notice it. The pocket clip is not deep carry, and holds the knife relatively high in the pocket, which is good for quick and easy access. Not to mention it doesn't subtract from the ergonomics, which are well above average. I feel strongly that this size of knife is ideal, the way it fits in both the pocket and hand is simply sublime. The Link has managed to get into the rotation of knives that go climbing with me, which has always been reserved for my absolute favorites. It may not be the most flashy or elegant knife, however, it is such a solid knife all around. Practical as heck, comfortable, easy to use, and if you are willing to shell out the big bucks, great steel is the icing on top. Love the Link, truly a lifelong companion. 91/100

I have an EDC elmax karambit that I love but the shape of the blade makes it a bear to sharpen. Looking at all the charts on various premium knife steels I settled on something in M390. I found the Kershaw Link and thought I couldn't pass it up. Out of the box it is a very good build quality that feels great in my hand. Very solid feel when deployed and a well designed look.
My only mild complaint would be though it is sharp it isn't shaving sharp out of the box. also the bevel isn't quite even towards the tip. I guess that should be expected at the price point.
Overall, An Excellent EDC for the $

The conclusion is this knife is awesome, especially at this price. The M390 blade steel is excellent. The handles are good. The lock up is excellent. Pocket clip is good but doesn't seat deep---only easy design change I'd request of Kershaw (see photo). Without a doubt, one of the best knives you'll find for the money.

I loved the fact that I could get a knife in M390 at such an attractive price point. I was impressed with the factory edge and don't expect to have to clean it up any time soon. The assist feature opens the knife with considerable authority. The only thing I anticipate doing to this knife is adding a deep carry clip. A+ would buy again.

I was looking at other flippers made of M390. There were many offerings in this steel that I am so attracted to, for a folding knife. But after much contemplation of all the features of all the other knives on offer and their cost, I could not deny this to be a superior choice, not simply because of the price, but also because of the reputation and history of this company. I have the Benchmade Barrage 581, which is also M390 as well as the Bradford Guardian 5 (another truly beautiful piece of work). The Kershaw Link had to be part of my collection for M390 blades. I was also thinking about getting one of those Italian blades but you know? Made in the USA is best for me. The blade is 3.5" of stone washed M390 stainless steel. It has a very quick, solid and positive opening into its frame lock assembly. Very secure. The handle is aluminum and feels good in the hand, to me. The blade thickness is excellent for EDC. I am an outdoorsman and I like to work with wood. While this would be great at carving and cutting food, I would not use it to chop or baton wood because it is not meant for that. This is a very civilized knife for use in our civilized society (i.e. cutting boxes, opening letters and of course, showing off to your friends). This has become my current favorite EDC. Thanks for reading.

It's a steal for being m390 and I love Kershaw but my blade came with a burr on 90% of the cutting edge. Also, hate the assisted open. The anodized aluminum isnt bad and I like the backspacer.

Still, for $80 you can't beat it.

This is a pretty solid knife. It’s got a super steel and that’s almost all I liked about it. The speed safe assisted opening really bothers me. It kinda sucks. A regular flipper is easy for me to open and this only makes it difficult to close so it offers no help. The handle is milled very well and it looks good. Blade grind is a little thick. It’s just not a useful knofe for me besides beating it to hell and saying I tried M390.

The fit and finish is excellent, with everything centered and the blade ground exceptionally sharp right out of the box, no touch up needed. The assisted action took a bit of getting used to, but after a few days of repeated flipping open and closing, it feels more natural. Excellent EDC size, with the only criticism that it's a bit small for my hands for heavier work. Just bought a deep-carry clip for it, so I plan on making it a part of the general rotation.

UPDATE: I loved this knife until I tried to take it apart, and suffered the Kershaw curse of Loc-Tite + a free-spinning pivot recessed flush in the handle. (I know it looks hexagonal, but it's not). First I had to use a soldering iron to heat all the screws to the failing temp of the Loc-Tite. Then I spent two hours trying to devise some way to immobilize the pivot enough to get the pivot screw to actually back out -- clamps, neoprene, adhesives... I finally had to wedge tiny slivers of metal into the gaps around the pivot. Kershaw, Reate and other companies that do this to customers need to STOP making this pointless and spiteful design choice.

---
What a great knife for this price. I know the factory edge isn't nearly as important as how well the knife later takes and keeps an edge, but GOOD LORD is this thing sharp out of the box! Easily the sharpest blade of any knife I've ever bought. It is taking shavings from the edge of a sheet of office paper that are, no exaggeration, 1mm thick and fall to the floor in neat little curls. And on M390, it ought to hold, and be reproducible. Buy one of these while they're still around.
Very Fine edge on life :)

I received my Knife yesterday on Sunday, that was cool. This knife is really put together well the last few Kershaw's I've purchased not so much, except the Launch auto's. The Link with the M390 Blade is a great touch the CPM154 they use I've had no problems with and I carry it day after day, ATS-34 about the same, so now I get to try the M390, right out of box Razor Sharp, good hand feel, added Lanyard comes out of pocket very fast. will test and review further. OK, now I've put this Bad Boy to the test today is 11 days and I have put it to work, WOW I love this knife, I just purchased 2 more. M390 Kershaw has done a great job with it, keep it sharp don't let it get dull or you better know how to use a steel and a strop, stropping is the main finishing touch an old leather belt will work just fine, DMT makes a great Steel and BHQ has them, Red & Green that's the ones, Fine & X-Fine. M390 is a smooth steel, watch the video sharpening your knife BHQ. You didn't just buy a knife but you got a fine edge on and for life.

Thrilled with this knife. The size, heft and usable blade type are perfect for wear & tear outdoors with gloves. I'm glad it's a Speedsafe knife for that reason - it's a breeze to open with gloved hands. Seems like a great value, especially for M390 steel on such a big blade. The build is nicer than it needed to be for this price. The aluminum looks and feels great. May scratch more easily but it's a tough knife - it'll look better the more you wear on it. Carries a little shallow, but it's not really meant to be a discrete knife. This one's going right to work with me.

I got this for the 390 blade. The only draw back is the blade is too fat to be a great slicer. The action is like watching a slow motion movie and I must say it is impressive. Ergo's are ok. It is a little heavier than what I collect. I like the knife but it does go pretty far down in terms of pocket time on my list. I will carry it from time to time, but not every day.

Got the Link in M390 today and I have to say I'm impressed. I wanted a knife that I was willing to use but I didn't want some sub par steel. When I saw the steel this comes in I did my research and decided to take the leap of faith. I'm happy I did because this is a very nice folder. I'm not sure if Kershaw can keep making this knife at this price point but I'd love to see them keep it in some form whether it's bumped up to ZT or kept in Kershaw's line.

Pros:
-Very sharp which is good cause I'm a novice at sharpening.
-Fit and finish is on point.
-Ergonomics feel good for the role that it seems aimed at.

Cons:
-Blade centering is slightly off.
-It's assisted which I'm not really a fan of but it fly's out because of this.
-Pocket clip is not deep carry.
-Would have been cool to see different colors.

Verdict: I'd prefer you leave at least one in case I need to buy another.

The link has always been a good knife, I own several versions. Only downside is they come with rather cheap steel. They’ve made the perfect Kershaw with this knife! M390 steel is something you usually only find on $200+ knives. I picked up this knife a year ago (along with the dividend M390) and they were gone in a week or so. Looks like they came back with the bargain of the century. If you’re on the fence about this knife, pull the trigger because M390 doesn’t often come around at this price. Especially on such a nice knife, and trust me they will be gone again very soon.

excellent materials, excellent blade steel, nice weight and feel. It came razor sharp out of the box. enlarged lanyard hole is great and can accept double stranded paracord for removable lanyard (loop it through and cinch it on rather than being tied onto the knife) The flipper has jimping and a nice angle that doesnt chew your thump or finger up, and if you call kershaw they will send you a deep carry clip which causes this guy to ride very nice in the pocket and totally out of view. On top of all of this it has excellent aesthetics, it just flows and it lends to it being a great slicer. The only issue i have had is the blade centering being very slightly off. I have recentered it and it keeps wandering over a tiny bit after 20 or so flips.
Awesome knife made better.

I always liked the look of the Link. The only thing the might have put me off was the steel in the USA made version. But with an upgrade to M390 and the price still under $100 is insane. This should be a staple in the Kershaw lineup.

Too bad this was a limited run. I really enjoy this knife. One of my favorites with a great steel. Great deployment and solid lock up. Comfortable to use and carry. The only thing I didn't like was the clip, one call to Kershaw KAI and 6 days later i had a deep clip for free. If they brought this one back I'd get another so I had one for work and one for going out.

Best deal around for M390. Had it sharpened by a pro and it has held a wickedly sharp edge for months. Only downside for EDC is it's a bit heavy. Overall construction is solid. Assisted action is just right. Snaps open beautifully. And you can't beat made in the USA. Love this knife.

This is the cheapest M390 folder you can find. Got it and love it. It looks better than the pictures online and feels great. Came fairly sharp.
What a price! M390

Perfect size... Great flipper... great steal... Great EDC... I love the shape of the blade... There really is no downside... good weight... movable clip. it's taken over the spot of knives I've paid twice as much for... You should buy one... Or two lol
$80 atom-splitter... but free-spinning pivot!

Purchase this knife with no regrets guys and gals! It’s worth the upgrade and the black aluminum is beautiful!

Good knife

I got this for the 390 blade. The only draw back is the blade is too fat to be a great slicer. The action is like watching a slow motion movie and I must say it is impressive. Ergo's are ok. It is a little heavier than what I collect. I like the knife but it does go pretty far down in terms of pocket time on my list. I will carry it from time to time, but not every day.

Got this knife and carried it every day since. The only thing I wish it had was some jimping for grip on the back of the blade.

I cannot really add much to all the other reviews as they are spot on. In like it enough to have 2. Only wish they would have done some weight reducing milling but easily overlooked by all the positives of this great design and build. And I love my BM and Spydies.

This has become one of my most carried knives. It came sharp and I haven't touched it yet. The M390 holds a great edge. The blade shape is a great slicer. Handle is comfortable in hand. I have been very happy with this knife.
