Description:
Kershaw made their very first butterfly knife in 2020, their wildly popular Lucha model—and they heard their fans scream! To satiate the knife world's ravenous appetite for quality balisong knives, they made a premium version of the Lucha. This 5150CF model has titanium handles with carbon fiber scales. Its blade is made from 20CV stainless steel, a clear upgrade from the Sandvik 14C28N of the original model, in a refreshing new spear point shape. You'll experience the same flawless KVT ball-bearing action and tight latch lock-up you appreciate in the Luchas of old, but its lighter weight, killer aesthetic, and improved cutting power proudly carry it beyond awesome into truly spectacular.
The Kershaw Lucha comes in several iterations. Check out our Kershaw butterfly knives and pick up your favorite!

I've owned Benchmade and other balisongs but where the Lucha stands out is the construction . The titanium handle weigh not much . The Carbon fiber scales same . The weight is soley focused on the massive CPM-20CV blade right where you want on a bali . I wish the blade was satin and not stone wash but a nuanced preference . Overall the Lucha feels great in hand . Flips the way it should. Would recommend . Can't comment on the steel bearings and how they flip as I purchased the Flytanium ceramic bearings and installed them immediately . Took about 5 mins with no instructions needed . A really great blade .
It’s light but flips well. If you want something to put in your pocket for edc this will be a great choice. I only see one similarity between this and the lucha though, they look alike and that’s it. This is a completely different butterfly knife.
I’ve been playing with it for a few days and I absolutely love it. There’s zero play and the bearings are a smooth flip I’ve never experienced. 2 o rings on the latch keep it out of the way, this blade is way to unforgiving to be kept in my pocket without it. The scales ad a bit of roundness to it and make it easy to spin. Only negative I can find, the blue paint on the bottom of the safe handle is scratching off from the latch. If you go latchless, no worries. I look forward to polishing the handles sometime so not a horrible thing to me.
This is my first balisong and I think I did really well. The bearings when I bought it felt good (to a noobie to balisongs) but I replaced them anyway with the ceramic ones sold here. One thing I noticed was how the bearings need to wear into the surface finish of the blade a bit before they become super smooth. Another thing I wasn't sure about was how quickly the bolts would loosen to create wobble in the handles. I'm honestly surprised how many drops (onto carpet) and rookie flips it took for them to loosen up. I presume that since this knife is more mechanical than most, this is normal so I applied a small bit of blue lock tight and after a few tries, got the torque just right and its been good for a while. I love this knife. I just wish they came in a more colors than blue. 10/10
If I’d gotten this version first. The stainless steel version is like hitting yourself in the knuckles with a ball peen hammer when flipping. This is night and day different. I like this one almost as much as my maxace and benchmade 51.
I bought this Ti carbon Lucha hoping it would be lighter and more agile than my Original Lucha, and boy was it ever a fantastic difference! This is what I was hoping for. A lighter more flippable yet extremely well-made tough knife. Do yourself a favor and just buy one. You will be very very happy with your decision to get this one! No regrets and it is beautiful!
Super smooth action, beautiful finish on the titanium, carbon fiber is nicely textured. The safety clasp is stylish and doesn't really get in the way. The USA made with this material for this price is great, 20cv blade has a fantastic stonewash but is not super sharp from the factory, still decent but not a razor. Overall great purchase and the most attractive balisong I've seen yet.
Not much else to say that the other reviews haven't already covered. I own the original Lucha, which I use for general purpose cutting, such as yard work. I also own the trainer, which I highly recommend. After much consideration, I purchased the latest carbon fiber and titanium model for EDC and clean cutting tasks, such as meal prep and other clean tasks. It is a fantastic knife, of the highest quality, and at an affordable price. Once available, I will attach a pocket clip for EDC. It's an expensive tool, but the cost is justified. And considering the uniqueness and quality of this item, I suggest having Blade HQ laser engrave it. I had them engrave my wedding anniversary date on the back of the blade, and it looks fantastic. Great work, thanks!
I own a few balisongs in the $250-$300 range and this CF/Ti Lucha stands among the best of them. The reduced weight from the original lucha make it feel very agile while retaining the heft needed to be a good EDC knife. On top of that it also has great hand-feel and balance for tricks and manipulation. It’s flipping ability is comparable to other knives in this price range like the Krake Raken, Talisong Z, or the Fly/Ti Lucha, but exceeds them all in EDC capability. I’d definitely recommend this knife to someone looking to upgrade from their original lucha, or to anyone who wants a classy and usable balisong. -Rob N.
Some people collect stamps. I collect LUCHAs. All seven including the trainer are equipped with FLYTANIUM ceramic ball bearings. And Titanium scales. And Three Rivers titanium pocket clips. I wanted the trainer to flip exactly like the live blade. Same weight, same smoothness. That’s how I learned to flip. One was purchased from FLYTANIUM with aluminum channel scales. And one I converted to FLYTAINIUM. aluminum channel scales. This being my 10th Lucha. Cost me $289.95. With all the parts to convert a standard LUCHA cost $315.39. This 5150CF was a little stiff. I used some KPL and let it sit for a few hours. The smoothness improved a lot. The handle play is very tight. BUT i feel the FLYTANIUM ceramic ball bearings has the edge. A hair tighter and smoother. I’m tempted to convert the 5150CF to FLYTANIUM ceramic BBs. It is a great flipper. And I recommend it highly. Your mileage may vary. Later China Springer.
