Description

Description

Knifemaker Justin Lundquist designed this Feist knife after losing his favorite EDC knife. With a lifelong passion for fine art and traditional craftsmanship, Justin applied his extensive camping and hunting experience to create this clean, lightweight EDC folder. The refined look and smooth flowing lines set the Feist apart from other EDC knives. It has a CPM-S35VN steel blade with a front flipper opener. The handle is made from 6AL4V titanium with a matte gray finish. Add a highly functional piece of knife art to your collection with the Kizer Feist.

Features:
  • CPM-S35VN blade steel provides a tough blade with excellent edge retention.
  • Rounded titanium handles for a smooth gripping surface that is comfortable in the pocket or hand.
  • A sleek front flipper and ball bearing pivot offers quick blade deployment while adding to the clean aesthetic appeal.

I've recently fallen in love with Kizer knives and couldn't pass up the Feist. Makes for a perfect small gentlemen's folder. Very attractive knife that isn't going to offend but still get the job done. Smoothest action that you can always expect from Kizer and that front flipper is fun to test your friends with. Fit and finish was very nice with perfect blade centering. Beautiful little knife and worth every penny.

it's really a beautiful knife. mine came very sharp compared to other kizers i've handled. there's a slight miss on the very edge of the sharpening choil that makes it stick out just a hair, but i'm betting i can sharpen it out when the time comes-- not that i'll need to for a while.

the front flipper is easy to deploy, although this is not my first front flipper so i'm somewhat used to the technique. the detent is slightly stronger than i was hoping for, so i can't do the index finger pull to open it, but it works great with the thumb, so i can't really complain.

my only gripe with this knife is that the lock bar tension is very high and the lockup on mine came over halfway across, so it's difficult to wedge the meat of my thumb to close the knife. i pretty much have to use two hands to close this one. if it doesn't loosen up over time, i might try disassembling it and trying to work the lock bar over the other way just a hair to get closer to a 40-50% lockup instead of 70-80%. however, if i have to do that, it will automatically void the warranty on the knife (thanks for nothing kizer) and it does carry a real risk of making the lockup unsafe if i mess it up somehow. i'm going to wait a while to see if the risk is worth it.

really, if they came out with a liner-lock version that had smooth handle scales on both sides, i'd be much more interested in that. with a liner lock you can get away with much less lock bar tension without making the knife unsafe. frame locks are great for harder use knives, but plenty strong enough for something like this. you'd have to be crazy to beat on a knife this pretty to the point of lock failure.

all told, the knife being a one-hand-open, two-hand-close sort of knife isn't too much of a hassle for a lighter duty knife such as this one, and i love pretty much everything else about it, so i can't fault it too bad for that one problem. four stars.
Pretty much perfect

I really have zero complaints on this knife, which is almost unheard-of. Absolutely love it. My all-time favorite non-auto folder. All titanium, S35VN, bearings, love the front-flipper, super contoured, milled clip, etc., etc., etc. I will note that this is the "fixed" version. No grittiness or any other issues that the first batch had. They even did away with the swirled pivot. The new packaging is very cool, as well. It's really just a joy to carry and use. Goes with me everywhere. Would give it 6 stars.

I don't have much experience in front flippers but I can say that this knife is very well built and smooth. It takes a little bit of practice to get the action right but once you lock it in it's like riding a bike. I love how simple it is, the lines and the smoothness, very attractive. Very elegant piece, I look much forward in using it in the future! The only down point I could give is that, as others said, it didn't come very sharp; though s35vn is a great steel to maintain
Easily my new favorite EDC

I did not have the problems others have had with gritty opening and closing. Knife is very smooth. But there are two minor problems.

1. As others have mentioned, the frame lock is WAY too tight and hard to move to unlock the blade. Only gets easy when you use 2 hands, which defeats the purpose.

2. The Front flip feature is mediocre at best and hard to open. Requires both a strong thumb, and a strong flip since the thumb alone only gets the blade half-way open at best.

Otherwise it is a quality product. Love the look of it and the steel should hold the sharp factory edge a long time.

I just received my Feist today and I am extremely disappointed. I was hoping to get a new version or a version that wasn't pure crap but that wasn't the case. The action is the worst on any knife I have ever owned. It is almost impossible to even open, much less flip open with one hand. I hope I just received a dud and they aren't all this bad. This is my first and hopefully last experience with something this bad.

My Feist was perfectly centered and grit free. Guess I got lucky for once. Two small issues are the hard to disengage lock bar and stiff pocket clip. These items are by no means bad enough to keep it out of my pocket.
Grittiness caused by loose stop pin.

The Feist has a great design, but the gritty opening and closing sound drove me nuts. I tried to get rid of the gritty sound by disassembling the knife and cleaning it. This helped, but it didn't completely solve the problem. It turns out that the gritty sound was caused by the loose stop pin rubbing against the titanium handles as the knife opens and closes. I shimmed a small piece of paper into the stop pin hole then reassembled the knife. This solved most of gritty opening and closing sound. There is also some sharp burrs inside the knife from the milling work.

Overall The Feist is a great knife with a great design.

I love this design and really want to love this knife, but I don't really even carry it anymore. It came with a loose pivot and the same grittiness that everyone else had. It was never really that sharp, and now, I can't even sharpen it because the blade edge is too wide of an angle. Was considering having it reprofiled, but now with the talk of a feist 2 to replace it, I'll just wait. Hopefully it'll end up being the knife this one should have been.

I love this design but the execution needs work: The lock is gritty and the lockbar is so stiff my thumb still hurts days later.
This is my first Kizer that isn't perfect out-of-the box.

Sadly, I'm returning my Feist and will eagerly await a later shipment for Kizer to fix these two nits.

Mine gets 5-stars for design and just 3-stars for exection.

I love the knife, perfect small edc option, great materials, beautiful design inside and out, and is a joy to take apart and maintain because of its simplicity in its ingenuity. There are a couple of gripes with it though... The knife came gritty and had to clean off the excess metal shavings inside. After a thorough cleaning and oiling it works perfectly. Some screws are not evenly flush on the knife, most notably on the lock-bar insert screws. Another thing is that the clip is way too strong and I feel it will wear my pocket rather quickly. Lastly, disengaging the lock bar is a pain because it's super strong and there's no cut out on the face side of the knife and you really got to jam your finger in there to get it to close. Maybe in time the lock bar will soften a bit, but really wish it was easier on my thumb.

All that aside, it's a beautiful knife and I love it!
