Description:

Begleiter comes from the German language meaning "companion." Designed for those who prefer a slim profile, the Begleiter delivers. The handle is inset from the liners and keeps this knife incredibly lightweight and subtle in the pocket. It has an open-build with two barrel spacers on either side of the elongated lanyard hole. The EDC-ready design includes a reversible tip-up carry clip. A caged ball bearing pivot ensures a smooth and reliable action. The craftsmanship of the Kizer Begleiter is finished off completely by hand for sharpening, quality inspection, and is put to the test. Kizer Cutlery strives to bring the best knives forward while keeping them affordable.

Customer Reviews

Great knife
William K. on Jun 3, 2018

Great knife for a great price. Mine came with a smooth action out of box. Very fun to flick open. The quality and fit and finish for a knife under 55 bucks is outstanding.

Very happy purchase
Brandon W. on Jun 26, 2021

The operation of this knife is easily comparable to much higher priced benchmades. Came scalpel sharp and made out of a pretty darn good steel. VG-10 is very popular in Japan. And if you know Japanese culture they take blade steel very seriously. I’ll definitely be looking into more Kizer knives in the future. And as always I love the great customer service from bladehq.

Amazing smooth
Scott M. on Jun 12, 2021

I love how smooth the thumb flip is. This is a knife that feels more expensive than it is.

I like it!
Gregory B. on Jun 17, 2019

A good friend told me about his Kizer knife he got a year ago. He said it was a Quality knife from China. I thought that was an oxymoron, Quality/China, so said yeah, yeah nice knife. A month ago I was looking at sale items and saw the Kizer Begleiter blue knife. I remembered hearing something about them but could recall details. Read the specs, good steel VG-10, good handle material, G-10, pretty blue, slim design, like the blade geometry. Ordered one and I like it, it really is growing on me. It's a pretty knife, fit and finish are good, smooth right out of the box, so I guess you can have a quality knife from China at an affordable price. My friend was correct and proceeded to tell me that when I started talking about how good it was.

Very nice knife for the price
Jon P. on Sep 5, 2020

Just recently received this knife in the mail. I would say I have had it for about a week, and only used for a few packages. I will say my initial impression is very positive. The knife came lubricated, and very sharp out of the box. Nice and lightweight, and I love the deep carry clip. Would definitely recommend for anyone on the fence.

a little tank of a knife
Matt P. on Dec 21, 2020

I got this based on the ratings and thought I would give it a try, but for the price it is pretty amazing. It flips open like butter (after a few drops of oil) and it razor sharp. The really impressive part is just how well built it is, the steel is the same as some of my pretty highly priced benchmades, sharpens right up. It is also kind of the perfect size for a "gentleman's" pocketknife, and the blue color makes it very un-intimidating.

very solid knife
Jose L. on Jul 31, 2019

To say I've put this knife through Hell and back it would be a great understatement and it still wants to get to work. Use it as my work knife and has been a very reliable companion.

Amazing
Aaron D. on Jun 18, 2021

For the price point and the specs, it's an amazing knife! I will definitely be buying more from Kizer, as this was my first purchase and I am in love with how smooth the knife opens.

Very nice knife, but needs a deep cleaning when you get it
Clara O. on Aug 31, 2020

When I got this knife, it was covered in nasty smelling machine oil (just like my Kizer Mini-Sheepdog) and the washers seemed a bit gritty. Disassembly of the knife was difficult because Kizer likes to use red Loctite (or some equivalent substance) to permanently lock up its screws, including the clip screws, even though they give you a hole to mount the clip on the left side). I managed to get the pivot screw and a few of the scale screws out by regular force, but one of them required a soldering iron to remove, and one of the pocket clip screws only came out after boiling the lower part of the knife handle in water. After thoroughly scrubbing all of the machine oil off of the knife parts (the washers also had some black stuff on them), the knife was easily to reassemble and with two drops of Tuf-Glide, it flies open like a dream. Ergonomically, it is pretty solid, aside from the sharp thumb studs. The lockbar cutout provides a nice place to put the index finger, and the knife handle is long enough to get a solid grip with the rest of the fingers. There isn’t really a good place to put the thumb for a really tight grip – the elegant chamfered liners that stick out past the G-10 scales make the top of the knife quite slippery, so I wouldn’t use this knife for any delicate stabbing tasks, but the blade is long and robust and has no problem cutting through cardboard, sawing through tree saplings (in an underhand or overhand grip), cutting corn off the cob or slicing through bread (a bread knife would be easier, but this knife is more fun). The knife blade came very nicely sharpened. After a week of cutting through thick plants, the edge had dulled slightly, but after stropping with some green compound, it is back to shaving sharp and sliced two of my fingers as I was washing it. The knife sits nicely in deep pockets, and I’ve even carried it around in athletic shorts, but I wish that Azo had used the deep-carry pocket clip from his lower-end Tangram knives on the Begleiter (I see from his Instagram that he may be working on a deep carry clip for this knife – hopefully Kizer will sell it as an accessory sometime in the future). Still, the existing pocket clip has a nice design, it’s easy to slip on and it seems secure. Overall, this knife has quickly become one of my favorites. I plan to buy the copper or brass version when it’s released. My only warning is to have your knife-boiling pot ready when you purchase this knife.

Fairly Big and Almost Light
Jay R. on Apr 25, 2022

I purchased this several years ago. I was so fond of it that I bought two more. There was a buy one and get one free sale, so I paid $25/knife. I don't carry this too much at present, having recently acquired a Ritter Hogue. I am not sure what will replace that as my EDC. If I could afford a Rockstead, it would happen. At least, that is what I believe. This is a very comfortable and easy to use knife. Centering was good. Lock-up was solid. I remember it being sharp OOTB. It does sharpen up nicely. I can highly recommend it.

Damn

This knife gets the same amount of pocket time as my buyout and pm3 it has great smooth action and size is perfect

Slick
Steve K. on Dec 4, 2019

I'll start by saying this knife exceeding my expectations every day. More often than not, when I open a new knife my initial reaction is sort of, ok, it's meh. Immediately upon unboxing this blade I thought, "ohhh this is different". The action is slick, opens like it's on oil. The stonewashed blade looks great but it's also sharp as hell out of the box. Today at work I subconsciously pulled it out and sliced through some plastic and was genuinely surprised by how easily the blade glided through the job. Finally, the knife has a certain sophistication to it where I would feel comfortable with it in a business meeting, or out camping for the weekend.

Awesome value!
YURIY M. on Jan 27, 2021

I initially got a Mini Begleiter, but the mini felt awkward in the hand while opening, there was very little real estate to hold on to. Then I got the full size and it feels great in the hand. It's on the upper-limit for EDC, but the shape of it makes it easy to carry. The blade was nice and sharp out of the box. But it took a bit of oil and some brake-in time to get the action smooth. I got it on sale for $40 and think it's an amazing value. The blue color in real life is not as bright and deep blue as in the picture, it's a lighter shade and it looks nice.

I like it BUT...
Jai T. on Dec 13, 2019

I really prefer combo serrated blades. I'm a long-time fan of Kershaws but they have discontinued my favorite everyday carry styles so decided to try this knife. Initially wasn't sure but QUICKLY grew to love it, until...the damn screws anchoring the pocket clip loosened. I have mini-tip drivers but nothing fit these screws. Problem led to screw loss and then a bent pocket clip. DAMN!! Now un-carry-able. Reached out to BladeHQ -- absolutely no help. Told me to contact manufacturer but no help with contact info. NOT HAPPY!! Nice blade but fell apart.

Affordable knife to test out the brand
Sean H. on Jul 23, 2019

Was interested on trying the brand and it does feel like needs a break in period. Liner lock feels stiffer than needs to be but assuming with use it will become easier. Decent knife for the price.

Solid Knife
Allen G. on Dec 9, 2019

I like the look and feel of the knife. Good open action. Not as sharp as I was hoping, but overall pretty decent for the price.

Good budget knife
Andrew C. on Sep 6, 2020

This knife is pretty good for the price. The G-10 is nice, and the blade steel is good for this price. Mine came also in a weird oil and it was very hard to break it. Had to use some cleaner and new lube because I didn't want to take it apart. I can open it pretty well now, but overall I think the Civivi Elementum is a better value if you don't mind a flipper with a shorter blade.
