This sharpening system works well for pocket knives, but too small for most fixed blades. I have had good results on the knives I have sharpened, but I can do better on a ceramic wet stone. That being said this is a basic kit, and is a safe way to sharpen because you won't slip up and put a bad angle on your knife. Do make sure to scrub execs steel off the stones because it and reduces the abrasion. I would say to add a diamond stone to the kit, best would be the fine, they do a really good job and get your knife sharper than the standard stones. Also, use the honing oil as opposed to just water, it makes a big difference.
