In many ways, Microtechs Ultratech is the quintessential out-the-front (OTF) automatic knife. It boasts Microtechs superior double-action, allowing you to open or close the knife with one push on the thumb slide. Quality is evident in every aspect—from its top-shelf materials, to its flawless fit and finish, to its innovative, highly functional design. There is something undeniably satisfying—even thrilling—about operating an OTF knife like the Ultratech. It feels a little bad in a good way, and though it may seem extra to some, it allows one-handed accessibility that is remarkably practical. Whether youre looking for a knife to bet your life on, one to carry every day, or just one to expand your collection with, this knife will fit the bill and have you smiling.
The Ultratech has seen several iterations. This version offers a smooth, contoured handle with thoughtfully placed jimping to maximize comfort without compromising grip security; additionally, it won't chew up your pocket.

Loving my black ultratech in satin.. Mine came in M390. What a beautiful knife! .. Definitely my favorite.. Thank you Blade HQ!
This is my first OTF of any brand. After reading all the reviews, including You Tube, I decided between the Microtech Ultratech and the Guardian Recon - 035. I'm glad the Guardian was out of stock so I bought the Microtech instead. I wasn't disappointed at all! It came razor sharp with CTS - 204P steel. The blade opens smooth and strong with a good tight lock up.The over all fit and finish of the knife is impeccable! I might just become addicted to Microtechs in the future and have to buy other models.
This is another example of fine craftsmanship. The action is solid, blade came razor sharp, the knife feels great in the hands. The action was a little stiff initially but after the initial break in period, it feels amazing. Good job Microtech!
I've been waiting for a while, stocking up my arsenal for Armageddon! Although that may not happen for some time, it energizes my spiritual knife karma to join the inner sanctum of the OTF Microtech Ultratech family! If you can only afford one knife in your life, make it a Microtech. The quality of craftsmanship, the arduous details to refining a true razor's edge from the factory, is insane! I'll be buying many more models of Microtech in the future, they are not cheap but worth their price and more I would say. First impressions are the lasting and I look forward to seeing the mailman with more frequency bringing me more Microtech's!!
This is my fourth Ultratech (sixth OTF Microtech). The handle is perfect and action is rock solid. Just a great knife. Once you get used to an OTF, it feels like a safer knife because you can close it with one hand, nice!!
This is my first OTF and first Microtech and I have to say I'm impressed. The blade is great, the firing action is smooth and quick, I love the slim profile of the knife as well. However, there is one major issue I have with it. The jimping on the toggle switch is way and I mean WAY too aggressive, to the point where after you deploy the blade about 3-4 times it becomes physically painful for your thumb to keep doing it. Look Microtech I get why you did this, but I feel like you could've done a way better job finding a nice balance between safety and ease of use for the toggle switch, especially for $300. The knife becoming physically unbearable for your thumbs to deploy after 3-4 times is a huge problem for a self-defense scenario. So unless you wear tactical gloves wherever you go I can't recommend carrying this as an EDC. Fix the super aggressive jimping on your toggle switch and you got a very solid OTF.
I just received a new Ultra tech and am almost sorry I opened it. After firing it a few times, I checked the blade and found that I could move it in all four directions. Not what I expected from a $300 knife with all those glorious reviews, saying that when open there was no perceptible play to be found.I did find the blade very sharp with a well done edge...
I have this knife and bought it here. From day one, no matter what I do it opens so sluggishly that I would absolutely never trust it. That's only when it opens. Most of the time it will slide out about 4/5 of the way and drag to a stop unlatched. When I saw it, I loved the idea. I'm glad that I bought it because it taught me to never buy another one again. NEVER NEVER NEVER depend on this knife. I have had it around a year I guess and I have maintained it exactly the way Microtec tells you to. If I clean it the way they say it will work sluggishly for a day or two and then start hanging up again. Unless you want it just for the novelty and have plenty of money, please don't spend this much on a less than a mediocre knife.
