Disclaimer: I did not buy this knife at full price on Blade HQ because I was aware of the many issues a lot of well-known reviewers had pointed out prior to purchasing this for $70 at another retailer. This is NOT a knock on Blade HQ, because they are a fantastic company that I try and support with most of my knife purchases, but I am on a budget, soÖ I'm a just knife nerd who owns and works on several knives as a hobby.

Pros: The overall aesthetics are great. OKC did a good job on nailing Robert Carterís custom Whar Fighter design from the body to the blade. It looks really cool. The blade is thick and heavy but came from the factory super sharp and has an attractive tumbled black wash. The hollow grind is well done and I love D2 as a solid budget steel. The detent is decent. This knife does perform well in a lot of my daily tasks.

Cons: First thing I noticed unboxing it was the blade centering is way off by about 4mm favoring the show side. The action was atrocious: sticky and slow. Upon disassembly, I found black sticky grease smeared all over which was clogging the bearings. Iím not sure why they used this from the factory. It performed much better with a thorough cleaning and a healthy application of KPL. I still could not get the blade centered using all the tricks I know: flipping the pivot, swapping bearing sides, tightening body screws and pivot in various order, etc. So I ordered an exchange hoping the second example would have a centered blade. When the replacement arrived the blade was centered perfectly, but the detent was so weak the blade fell open with the slightest of shakes. And again, the action was horrible. Except on this example, the ďlubeĒ was this sticky, translucent pink goop that had dried to the point that bearing-shaped chunks fell out upon disassembly. Why are they doing this? I donít get it. SoÖ I did the usual cleaning and bent the lock bar in further hoping it would fix the weak detent. No go. Then I installed the centered blade from the second example into the body of the first example: blade remained centered but the detent was still weak, which I can only think at this point that the detent hole on the blade was machined too shallow. I donít know. I wonít even go into all the non-chamfered hot spots on the body and all the fit and finish problems. I ended up keeping the first example with the uncentered blade as it does work just fine and doesnít rub anywhere.

I really wanted this knife to be great as I love the design. But OKC really missed the mark on a custom design that has so much potential to be offered at an affordable price. I wish Carter would have gone with WE Knives or Zero Tolerance on this one. It would have been excellent. I love OKCís RAT models, so donít get me wrong, they can do good work. I cannot recommend this knife at $135, nor can I recommend it at the $70 I paid for it. There are no-name Chinese knives out there for $50 - $60 with the same materials that far exceed anything this knife is doing. Itís a shame and Iím really hoping OKC takes all the criticism this knife has received since its release and produces a second run that remedies all of these issues.

Great knife for a good price. Got mine a week ago and edced it to work. Razorlike sharpness, perfect size for a little big ger hand and pretty evolution look. Like it a lot.
5 stars, at this price point.

Excellent value for the price. The detent is comfortable and the action is crisp. The blade comes very sharp and centered. Comfortable in the hand and the pocket clip allows easy clipping on the pocket and secure retention. The handle edges could be more rounded, but they are not bad and the back spacer is slightly taller than the handle scale. Both are minor flaws. This is worth every penny!
