The 18" SBK Sawback Machete has been manufactured for over 60 years under US Government specs, now you can get your own! It has a thicker blade than the Econo version, so it's a bit more hefty and resistant to abuse, making it an excellent choice for campers, hunters, landscapers and many others. The black 1095 steel blade is zinc phosphor coated and has a flat ground edge. The black plastic handle is tough and sized for solid grip.

I bought this in 2006 in a surplus store in Washington State. I used it to clear a badly overgrown back 40 shortly after the purchase. I've used it to baton wood for the campfire, trim unruly bushes and I've even chopped down a tree working with a friend, (who had his granddad's WWII era Ontario Machete.) I haven't found the sawback to be very practical, (I would probably have to carefully profile the teeth for that,) but the blade itself has been a reliable tool for years.
