The factory edges is ok, but not great. Put a 20 degree edge on it with a Wicked Edge sharpener. It cuts, slices and carves unexpectedly well for its thickness. Sharpened edge is just under 4 inches. Handle is short, but very serviceable. It is too square, but with a bit of shaping it is perfect. Sheath is functional but not great.

This knife has good steel and I must admit looked very attractive and practical for what I intend to use it for....skinning. However after holding it my hand I gotta say there are many tweeks I would change if I could. For starters the handle is a little short for my average sized hand but it has a choil for choking up except the choil is poorly placed and my finger is on part of the blade when choked up. The blade I thought would have a smooth finish but it's more like bed liner you would see in the back of your truck not sure if that's good or bad yet but I imagine it's not going to help when cutting through meat. The overall feel of this knife can be best described as holding a brick. It's heavy, very thick, and a bit stubby also. I doubt this will replace any of my skinning knives as I hoped it would but oh well.... Just add it to the collection I guess.
