Description:
This knife doesn't open intuitively for most people, but you'll know the secret to its suave automatic action. The Magic BR-1 is a Mike "Whiskers" Allen design that utilizes a hidden bolster release; a simple, deliberate slide of the front bolster deploys the blade and also unlocks it. In tandem with the magical opening mechanism, the BR-1 has the signature Pro-Tech punch and minimalist design. This is much more than a novelty item; it's a capable EDC option and a part of your collection you'll be excited to show off.
Pro-Tech Knives are at the forefront of the custom and production automatic knives, known for their USA-made quality and powerful firing action. Pick your perfect Pro-Tech from our wide selection!
What a cool knife! Old school looks but with a modern touch. Every day carry auto yet no one knows. Makes a perfect child safe auto. Can't stop firing it open!
I ordered this knife with very high hopes and expectations and it sure did fill those requirements! Knife came extremely sharp and with a nice crisp and all together smooth action...also I love handing it to my buddies and watching them suffer trying to figure out how to open it! On average it took them about 8 mins which was fun in itself...already used the knife on many jobs and it has performed amazing! Get this knife now!
This blade is an excellent example of all you need for everyday use. The Protech BR-1 "Magic Whiskers" came from the factory with an extremely sharp edge, I was surprised. The design is simple, almost gentlemen like, if not for the larger profile. The action is smooth and quick. Easy to operate one handed. This is my new favorite item in the pocket.
It's a wow. Fit and finish is perfect. Operation is unique and smooth as silk. Outstanding materials give it simplistic beauty. Everyone I've showed it to has admired it. It's my new favorite and will be hard to beat.

Received the "Wiskers Magic" today. Out of the box it needed sharpening. But a little work with a Lansky and a few passes on the leather and its shaving sharp now. The action was a little stiff also, but a drop of oil fixed that and it fires and locks nicely now. Very cool design. Can't wait to show the guys and see if they can figure it out. This is my 7th purchase from BladeHQ and I'm really impressed. Received notice Saturday that knife was in (back order/out of stock), received Wednesday. Don't think I'll be using this to cut Sheetrock, to expensive, and I have Boker autos for that. Probably be my dress knife.
I purchased this knife and put it to work. Cut sheetrock and wood. used as screwdriver and prybar and that's just a few ways I have abused this knife. It holds a good edge and continues to open, close and cut like day one.
This is my third Protech and I have to say they all open hard and fast. I have other autos but they don't hit like a Protech. This knife has a cool opener and decent size blade.
Hits hard and locks up tight. It sits deep in the pocket and is light but feels great in the hand. Super sharp to boot. This was my first protech and it won't be my last.
Awesome knife. Fast action. Perfect size for pocket carry. Much better quality and stronger action than other autos I've had in the past.
The title says it all for 4 stars. First day I got this, it already got easily scratched on lightly coated scales from just carrying in pocket. I got it because of it's sneaky auto deploy and thought it was titanium scales. So yes you are buying an expensive aluminum auto for the name brand. Four stars.
I got this Magic 1 because it was a hundred dollars less than the 2 model. I which I would have paid the extra money. This knife is an excellent knife, very sharp, great steel and constructed well, and opens without fail. I knocked off one star due to the fact that they understood the mistake with this knife and made the 2nd model. The mistake is having just that one small end cap move to open the blade is AKWARD to get just right. The model 2 uses the entire side scale as one solid unit. I am stuck with this one until I lose it I guess. BUT the next one will be the #2 for sure.
I really like this knife. It's the perfect size for me. Both the blade and the handle and it carries deep. The anodizing on the aluminium handle holds up nicely. I thought I scratched it against a rivet on my jeans, but it turned out that the "scratch" was just metal that had come off the rivet and the knife was fine. I've seen that a lot of variations of this knife have been released, but I prefer this version. The actuator appears most "hidden" when the handle is a single dark colour and the pattern on the bolster is both pretty, adds texture and makes the mechanism harder to spot.
