The Newport is a larger version of Pro-Tech's Sprint knife. It utilizes the same stellar design cues, but the larger platform will appeal to folks with larger hands and those who prefer more to hold on to.
This Newport knife has a hand ground S35VN steel blade with a stonewash finish. The black anodized aluminum handle has satin hardware and a black tip-up carry pocket clip.
Protect really out did themselves on this one. Razor sharp and snaps to attention at the push of a button! Out of the 20+ blades I own this one by far is my favorite.
My favorite Protech. I really liked The Don, but the ornamental "sword" projections stuck in my pocket. I almost liked the Runt, but the action felt like it belonged on a much larger knife. The Newport for me is a perfect hand-sized pocket knife, with an ideal deep-carry pocket clip. The deploy button is recessed into the handle, making it less likely to be pressed accidentally. The matte finish on the handle is non-slippery, making for a secure grip. The blade is ordinary enough, good steel of course, but very important for me is that it's the perfect size and shape for the handle and my everyday use. With many of the knives I've had, the handle and blade seem mismatched, but the Newport is just right.
My wife bought me one of these for Christmas from Blade Hq. It is always in my pocket. Perfect size, razor sharp, and a very snappy opening.
The Newport is a fantastic knife that demands attention when it snaps open. Although the knife opens incredibly quick, it is still very easy to close with one hand as there is not too much resistance on the spring. The aluminum finishing feels high quality, but will show scratches overtime. The pocket clip feels great in pants, and the knife is small enough to allow a phone in the same pocket. The attention to details Protech brings with this knife is really impressive. All of the screws are perfectly flush with the knife. The button on the knife is slightly lowered to prevent misfires when setting on a surface. The stonewash finish looks amazing and will keep looking great as scratches from use won't stand out. The blade has very little play, and is perfectly centered. This knife is visibly simple, but still looks fantastic with the edges being smoothed and contoured. The blade to handle ratio really shines on this knife in my opinion. I have carried this knife everyday for over 3 weeks and love it, my only complaints would be the pocket clip being slightly too big for the knife, as it takes up almost the entire handle, and also the button on the knife feels mushy where I would much prefer a clicky/tacticle feel. Would recommend this knife to anyone who is interested.
This knife is a perfect size for front jeans pocket, has great opening action and it's *bleeping* sharp. I have a lot of Protech's in my collection but this is the new go-to for EDC. Highly recommended!
Got mine a few days ago. perfect right out the gate. Sharp as can be, and the action is amazing. it is my first protech, and likely not my last. perfect size, perfect feel. Great knife.
This knife opens hard and despite it's size, is quite intimidating. It's looks longer than 3 in. The knife exposed looks deadly. I have a friend who always wants to see this knife. I highly recommend, a great smaller auto.
