Description:

The SOG Knives SOG-TAC AU is a slim automatic knife with an exciting XR Lock opener. By just pulling it down like you would to normally disengage it, the blade will spring open and lock into place. To engage the safety, simple push the lock up instead of down. Instead of adding an annoying extra step to opening this knife, it simply makes opening it require more force, drastically reducing unintentional blade deployment. For an automatic knife that's lightweight, well-built, and affordable, go with the SOG-TAC AU.

Customer Reviews

Great Lightweight EDC!
Curt G. on Nov 18, 2021

This is a great, lightweight, and thin EDC auto. My example has none of the problems listed by other reviewers. The blade is centered and the deployment action is quick and smooth! I will be picking up the drop point version when it’s available, as well. Recommended!

If you like a two handed auto opener this is for you!
TIMOTHY H. on Nov 1, 2021

I own many automatic knives and was excited to see SOG's new design. The locking slide was dry as it was impossible to open without the use of two hands. I lubed up both sides of the locking slide and, while it helped, I still need two hands to press BOTH sides of the slide mechanism to get the blade to deploy. Yes, I worked the lube in (super premium "Advanced Weapon Technology" weapon oil). Sure it helps, but this knife will NOT deploy with one hand. It's impossible. Two hands are needed to deploy the knife, one to hold the bottom and the other to press each side of the locking mechanism at the same time. If you try to press one side only it will not move and the blade will not budge. Maybe I am missing something, so far out of the box, all lubed up, I would not dream of actually walking out of the house with it. It's terrible.

Too bad
Darin Y. on Nov 5, 2021

Blade rubs on handle so much so you can hear it. Only opened a couple times and already wearing off blade coating. If these are made in USA well then, that’s just sad. This is the first knife I have ever returned.
