Features:Ordered Wednesday night and received Saturday morning. The knife is everything I expected. We'll see how it holds up but for now I am extremely pleased.
This is a great pocket carry knife, have had it for a while now and has never let me down. Also keeps an edge great.
I really like this knife. SOG did a good job on this one in terms of deep cary, quick solid action and great lockup. I do like the safety switch but you do need to break it in. The switch is a Metal Injection Molded part so the locking surface is a little rough so it need to be oiled and exercised. I also recommend keeping an eye on the two screws that hold on the switch cover place for the lock. These things are minor to me like routine maintenance of an EDC blade. Anyway, I like the clean design and this is the knife I pick almost every day and I have a few to choose from.
Let me start out by saying that Blade HQ did a great job shipping. I ordered on a Sunday night, got my delivery on Wednesday. Awesome!! I wanted to carry this knife for a couple of weeks before I gave my review. The blade was razor sharp out of the box. The spring action on the auto deploy is surprisingly fast and strong. It looks great and cuts well. I bought this based on a large number of glowing reviews, and don't get me wrong it's a good knife. It's low profile in the pocket, and I like the way it rides; easy to deploy and quick to lock. There is a small bit of play in the blade, but that's to be expected for an auto deploy. The fit and finish is of obvious quality. There are a couple of things about this knife that could be better, which are worth consideration before you buy this. I thought based on videos and pics that there would be a red indicator on the safety, but there isn't one. No big deal. However, the deploy point of the raised button is somewhat inconsistent in some cases. For example, if you carry it in safe mode, the raised button can get depressed a bit, and it takes extra pressure to deploy in this case. From time to time, it takes variable pressure to release, although it's good most of the time. The pocket clip is pretty good, but a bit short and could use a small finger groove to help offset the strong spring release. It fits my hand well, but I find catching the clip with my pinky to keep it stable when it's deployed would be easier with a small indent. The grip is OK, but the SOG logo is kind of sharp. A cross hatch or similar smaller pattern would be better. While the ship with edge is great, it doesn't hold well with limited usage (I carved a couple of pumpkins and needed to touch it up). Finally, the black finish doesn't seem to hold that great -- I've had it for a couple of weeks as EDC, and it's already kind of scratched up with light usage. All in all, I would say this is a good knife and would recommend it, but there are a couple of minor flaws to keep in mind. On balance, it should sell for about $25 to $30 less than this price point.
