Bought the gray and satin. Came razor sharp. Liked it so much ordered the black one. Too bad the green and satin was out of stock, would have got that one too. Nice blade for the money.
The title says it all. It's good for everything from just caught fish to cutting a steak up.
Amazing quality handle, mirror finish blade and nice quality sheath. As a piece of craftsmanship this is a great thing. Mine didn't come *razor* sharp, but a few passes on the block took care of that. This is now my favored kitchen knife- just be sure to dry it very well, as 8Cr13MoV will corrode.
Just used this knife a bunch during deer season last week and I'm very impressed! Blade kept a nice edge even after gutting and skinning two bucks. Knife cleaned up easily with warm water and a little dish soap. The leather sheath held up great in the rain/snow and was very comfortable to wear. Can't say enough good things about this sub $40 Spyderco! I'm going to buy a few more for friends and family as Christmas gifts.
This is my first Spiderco Knife and I love it!
This my first Spyderco purchase, really like the knife
I didn't know what to expect when I purchased this Spyderco fixed blade for under $40.00 but I took a chance and it was well worth the price. It looks like it is more than capable of handling most all everyday light to medium tasks with no problem and has a nice leather sheath as well!
Nothing to complain about at this price point. Not as durable as my TOPS knives, but a great looking, very sharp, well designed knife for this price point. Solid leather sheath that appears fairly durable as well. Highly recommend this knife.
This is a wonderful EDC! The handle is extra comfy, the blade is a great shape/size, and even the sheath is well-made. My first Spyderco fixed blade!
Fantastic for the price. I purchased a couple of these, one for myself and one for a gift. I have been using it around the house, mainly in the kitchen. It is sharp out of the box and seems to hold an edge well. My plan for the knife after using it is to replace a couple of lesser knives in my chuck box.
Very solid knife! My favorite part of the knife is the scales! The G-10 is excellent! The knife is razor sharp and it the perfect size. I would recommend this knife.
Can't beat the price with this kind of quality. Handle scales look great and the knife feels good in hand. Even the sheath is nice. Already bought extras for Xmas gifts.
This knife is amazing for the price. I've been using in in the kitchen and it feels right at home as kind of a petty knife. The handle is really comfortable in all sorts of grips. The sheath is really nice too.
This knife is an incredible value. Handles are beautiful. The blade is ground and finished quite nicely. Very well balanced. This is in the top 10 "bang for your buck" list. Not sure how many of these Spyderco will decide to produce, but I suspect these will go like wildfire regardless. Oh yeah, and this thing comes with an incredibly nice black leather sheath.
I used this knife to process a decent amount of deer meat. The handle is great and feels fine even when wet. The steel however is pretty soft. If I hit bone even slightly it would lose a bit of its edge. Even if I didn't it would dull a out three quarters of the way through. It's super easy to sharpen however, just a quick touch up on a ceramic rod and strop. Overall it's a great design with a beautiful sheath but it needs to be offered in something with higher edge retention to get five stars.
The glowing reviews here must be initial "out of the box" impressions as a couple of issues with this knife become apparent over time. Out of the box, this does seem like a really good knife - the blade arrives with a sharp edge, the handle fits the hand nicely, and it has an almost ideal weight and balance. However, after a few uses, some concerns begin to appear. Due to the steel that is used, the knife requires frequent honing, noticeably more so than other knives within the same price range. Additionally, the G-10 handle is polished (something not apparent in the photos), which makes it quite slippery in the hand. Wearing gloves is a must if using this knife for duties such as field skinning, camp utility, or anytime your hands might get wet. If Spyderco offered an upgrade version with better steel and either a micarta handle or a G10 handle with better texture, this would be a 5-star knife as the basic design is excellent.
Great knife for the price. Good feel, comfortable handle, sharp, and very nice sheath included. Would recommend this knife.
Great little knife for the money. The leather sheath is very nice. Great backup hiking knife.
This is my first Spyderco knife. I bought it to use as a hiking tool. It is a comfortable knife to carry and use. Very surprised by the quality of this knife and leather sheath; very good ! This knife works well in my hiking EDC swap out. For the price and quality, it's hard to beat.
The knife is overall fine, not the sharpest knife out of the box but nothing terrible. The leather sheath is pretty nice but the handle feels too small. A little longer and even thicker would be nice, it's a bit hard for me to get a comfortable grip on it.
I'm erasing and updating my reveiw after about a month-this is well worth the price, the fit, finish, and sheath are all very nice.Wasn't impressed with the way it cut at first,BUT after fifteen passes on the fine ceramic rods on my lanskey turnbox,it cuts just like I figured it would, with that ffg.Very nice for food prep, although it's not something I'd be batoning logs with,it would be adequate for most camping chores.Bear in mind this steel isn't high end,so will need touching up a little more then you might be used to with a spydee, but it is so quick and easy to get it back to a fine edge, personally,I don't mind at all
