Why do knife companies apply animal names and descriptions to their knives? The Spyderco round hole and super sharp edge are reminiscent of eyes and claws. Think cats. Cats represent a highly developed level of predatory resourcefulness, sleek sharp claws and efficiency.
The Cat is unique. Spyderco aimed for a high pinnacle of cutting adeptness but demanded it be polished and sophisticated in appearance.
A deep silhouette wire clip burrows the knife down deeply in a pants pocket with the tip facing up and screws on both sides of the handle for left/right-hand positioning.
I needed a smaller knife to fit in some new work pants and this was PERFECT. Great action, feels good and you definitely get what you pay for and then some!
Lightweight and comfortable to use edc knife with Spydercos wonderful ffg. Amazing slicer and everyday use knife with the wire clip for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend if you’re in the market for a easily carried daily knife. BD1 sharpens up very easily on a strop and is perfectly adequate for 90% of the average persons daily cutting tasks.
The small size isn't a problem thanks to the choil. It does just fine in any setting and isn't threatening to use in public.
This was my first Spyderco... and I loved it. Bought others since, and looking for more. It’s very light, steel keeps a sharp edge, and it’s easy to sharpen. Even though it’s small, it fit in my hand very comfortably for everyday tasks. I really like the simple pocket clip, I was surprised at how good it held. Definitely recommended!
This knife is amazing for anyone (ahem, ladies) with small pockets. My wife could barely fit any of her knives in her pockets because girl pockets suck! As a guy I never knew this until I found my wife having this issue with the knives I got her. This knife is amazing, unique, and hasn't left her pocket rotation in years.
Just received it, was up in the air between this cat and the Chicago, went with the Cat for just a little more blade, i'm glad I did. I got this for the size as I wanted to have an EDC that just goes in my pocket and something a little more focused clipped, so wanted something smaller. I got man bug and it was just a tad too small until I could find a lanyard, this fits the bit, its very skinny especially if you remove the clip. Mine was smooth open but the detent on close was a tad tighter but after I put some super lube on it and worked in a bit I think it will break in rather well.
A good, comfortable, easy to carry knife. Despite it size it has good ergos and, because of it, you barely feel it on the pocket. Blade geometry offers good performance, the action is fast and smooth, and the wire clip is great. On the bad side theres an almost useless lanyard hole (too small) and a price tag that should be 10 dollars smaller. Overall i would say it that while not the best value out there it isnt bad at all, it id a good tool.
Great candidate for anyone looking for a EDC knife. Blade excels at simple household tasks. Love the clip.
