Most badass tomahwak I've ever held.

Perfectly sized beard, beautifully drop forged and made in North Carolina. What more do you need to hear? Its too bad people would look at me weird if I were to EDC this beauty.

Looks and Utility

The Genzow features one of the most beautiful and multi-functional axe heads I've come across. Its comfortable performing camp tasks and defensive ones alike. The polymer handle is great for those of us who plan to use this primarily in a hiking and "bug out" bag roles. Its extremely light and the shape fits well in multiple positions. The feedback is a bit more fatiguing than a hickory handle might exhibit but I think this is a reasonable trade off depending on how you intend to use this tool and is not an issue for camp tasks. It's found a permanent place on my rucksack.

Great, but...

So, the design of this unit is awesome. I like the thumb notch up at the top for use choked up for fine work. I like the ergonimics and balance for chopping or striking with the hammer. Sweet. What I found out of character, was some missed details. In the formentioned thumb notch, lanyard hole, and at a spot in the middle/front of the grip were spots at the poly molding seam where material had squirted out, and left hard jagged plastic fuzzy/lumps. Yes, I can just carve them off, but should I have to on a tool of this caliber? I wouldn't think so, but I will, and this tool will no doubt be a favorite for years. 2 more minutes at the shop before calling these ready to ship!

Wonderful Adaptation

To me, this is one of the most versatile hatchet heads, love the contours and the hammer poll. The handle is tough, and while it lacks the warmth of wood, I find it to be very functional.

Shame...

It would be a 5 star and infinitely better with a hickory handle.

First Time Customer and disappointed
NATHAN D. on Sep 5, 2020

I ordered the Spyderco Hatchethawk and a ultra fine triangle stone for my sharpsmaker. This being my first experience with Bladehq I was excited. I collect traditional pocket knives and enjoy them. The hatchethawk is really impressive and is a useful tool. When I purchased the promo was if you spent more than $200 you got a free knife and button. I did not recieve those items which made my purchase a little disappointing. Next time may consider anything place to order from.
