Mantras are meant to be repeated. In the case of the Mantra 2, it features the exact same handle design as the Mantra, including stonewashed solid titanium scales, a strudy Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) with a hardened stainless steel interface, and a lightweight, easy-to-clean open-backed construction style. Full-flat ground from premium CPM-M4 tool steel its narrow utilitarian, drop-point blade is almost reminiscent of a filet knife. Although it proudly sports a Tradmark Round Hole, it is designed only for flipper-style opening. For convenience and ease of carry, the Mantra 2 includes a reversible deep-pocket wire clip that offers both left and right-side tip-up carry.
Information from Spyderco
When I first started collecting knives, I got into a switchblade frame of mind. Maybe 20 something switchblades later I got into name knives-big and sharp. Now that I'm knocking on my seventies this Spyderco Mantra 2 just seemed to be calling out to me. I have also bought a bunch of Kizers lately. Smooth and light and if I feel like it I will get them anodized. Maybe in another 10 years I might be guying those plastic knife fighting knives.
Lightweight and super sharp (my legs have never been so smooth)! It's been in my pocket since I bought it.
I can’t imagine ever being able to buy another M4 titanium frame lock from Taichung for this price. The build quality is outstanding. Prefect centering. 50% lock up every time. Prefect pocket clip. Perfect blade shape. However, the action is not that stellar. It (button) flips nicely but doesn’t drop shut. The flipper tab is excellently rounded which makes flipping the Mantra 2 easy and comfortable. Ergonomics are almost exactly like a Delica 4. My only gripe is the trademark, non-functioning and non-accessible hole.
I like this knife a lot. This is great for every day carry. It's a good size, not too big, not too small and feels great in the hands. This knife not only looks sharp, it's actually really sharp too! My only complaint was that on initial opening, and thereafter for a bit, it felt a tad gritty. This smoothed out after a lot of openings and closings though. I've read about people complaining about a light detent and fear of the knife opening by itself. I have not noticed this to be an issue at all. Deployment is great, lockup is solid and releasing the lock and closing is just fine.
Ergonomics: Great, identical to the delica series. Steel: M4 is one of the toughest steels out there, you barely need to sharpen. Action: Great smooth flipper tab, as a nice action. In pocket: Has nice deep carry wire clip, the flipper tab does not poke you, and you can slide your hand by easily.
Bought on the discontinued sale, phenomenal deal with M4 and perfect fit and finish. Grab one while you can :))
I love spyderco but wanted something from them with a different look. This is it! Interesting blade shape in tough M4 steel. Just a slim profile sexy flipper from spyderco. Check one out!
