A Sage is someone wise in judgment and experience. Its reasonable assuming they achieved that title through trial, error and extending their best effort at every opportunity. If that definition can be applied to something tangible it would be an item created from experience and striving for quality and performance at the highest level. If said item were a pocketknife we could call it a Sage.
The Sage series represents Spydercos pledge to knife crafting and learning to make better knives at every available opportunity. The plan is to offer an ongoing series of Sage Folders with many of the different and ingenuous locking devices and mechanisms the knife industry has to offer.
This model is in recognition of knifemaker Michael Walkers contribution to the knife industry with his creation of the Liner Lock and ball bearing detent method of locking open a folding knife. While the knife is made in Taiwan, the flat-ground blade is produced with USA made Maxamet steel. It is paired with a gray G-10 handle and a Liner Lock. Categorized as a mid-sized folder, the blade is flat-ground and Plain-edged. A reversible wire pocket clip is included.
Amazing knife. Came sharp as expected from Spyderco. Perfectly centered. Deep carry pocket clip isn’t too tight so makes it easy to clip and and retrieve from my pocket. I usually clip it into my coin pocket and it fits perfectly. We’ll see how the Maxamet patinas over time. I put a little oil on occasionally and it’s still bright as new.
Love this knife! Everything about it is awesome. The only downside is, I don’t like the texture of the scales the knife comes with personally. Hoping to soon find a replacement since it seems that they are limited but other than that the knife is awesome.
