One of our favorites here at the Blade HQ!

A Sage is someone wise in judgment and experience. It’s reasonable assuming they achieved that title through trial, error and extending their best effort at every opportunity. If that definition can be applied to something tangible it would be an item created from experience and striving for quality and performance at the highest level. If said item were a pocketknife we could call it a Sage.

The C123 Sage represents Spyderco’s 30-year pledge to knife crafting and learning to make better knives at every available opportunity. The plan is to offer an ongoing series of Sage Folders with many of the different and ingenuous locking devices and mechanisms the knife industry has to offer.

This model is in recognition of knifemaker Michael Walker’s contribution to the knife industry with his creation of the LinerLock® and ball bearing detent method of locking open a folding knife. While the knife is made in Taiwan, the flat-ground blade is produced with USA made CPM-S30V. It is paired with a twill-woven carbon fiber handle and LinerLock. Categorized as a mid-sized folder, the blade is flat-ground and PlainEdged. Designed for comfort and in-the-hand-ergonomics, the carbon fiber handle is vibrant with multi-colored fibers bonded together when manufacturing the carbon fiber. The weaving runs deep, making ridges and textures for the palm to adhere to while gripping and cutting. A silhouette wire pocket clip adjusts for left- or right-hand carry.

This is a perfect everyday carry knife. It feels great in the hand, it opens and closes smoothly after you give it a little time to break in, it is not too heavy and fits in the pocket well and I have not had any problems with the wire clip it has held up well, it is razer sharp and holds an edge for a long time, the blade shape is perfect for slicing through any thing I could think of using a knife for, the lock is strong and there is no blade wiggle at all side to side or up and down, the blade thickness is great because it is still thick enough to be very strong but not so thick it creates drag when cutting, and the tip is super sharp. Over all this is a practicall knife to carry and I have no complaints. Definitely recommend it.
Great gentleman’s knife

This knife makes a fantastic edc blade for those who wear slacks regularly or for those who want a knife they can wear with something a little classier. The deep carry wire pocket clip allows the knife to virtually disappear when slid into the pocket. The great construction of this knife with the use of premium materials such as carbon fiber and S30V steel make this a very lightweight and capable tool. I definitely recommend getting this knife before it’s too late.
Really hard working knife

Came outta the box sharp as ever, and been a good work horse for the past 3 years.
Great edc

I have carried this knife longer than any other I have owned. It’s a bit heavy and a little hard to flick open because of the low retention but it’s a winner for sure.
Fantastic. Finally a real EDC

I have been on an 18 month search for the perfect EDC. A term mostly over used (even in this review) I have been through knives small, large, expensive, cheap, autos, and fixed. Finally this is it. The blade is the perfect length for most jobs. The handle and grip is dead on. The blade has no play and is super centered when closed. The clip is minimal and carries deep.

One of the biggest hurdles in this search has been size. I have fairly large hands, most of the knives I tried didn't leave much room for my pinky. This one does it beautifully.

And finally that carbon fiber...I might have missed it in the description but it is super grippy. Not slick at all.

All pros no cons. Except maybe being made in Taiwan but the quality is there 100%!

Best knife for the money imo.

S30V, CF, great look, what's not to like? And all for a buck and a quarter.
