Customer Reviews

Another great Southard flipper.
Thomas P. on Jan 13, 2020

Now discontinued, get it before it is gone. Material build and F & F is excellent. The knife flips well. Needs a bit of wrist to be sure. Carries well, with the deep, wire clip. Can't even tell you have it. More blade on this knife than similar sized folders. Very happy with the knife.

Get em before they are gone!

A real nice addition to the collection with that wonderful carbon fiber and great flipping action!

First spyderco flipper

Love the handle scales. Light in the pocket and will make a great edc blade. Fit and finish are good. Feels good in the hand.

Very nice knife. Opens with a flick. Sharp right out of the box. Sits deep in your pocket.

Great Flipper
Thomas D. on Jun 13, 2017

The scales make it light weight. It is a very smooth knife, action is good and blade shape great. This is an overall good knife to have, feels great in your hands.

Great folder

The spyderco positron is my first purchase from this site and I couldn't be happier. The textured carbon fiber scales feel great in my hand compared to my aluminum handled benchmades that have that chalky feel. Blade centering is perfection as expected and lockup is perfect. Knife feels great in hand and came razor sharp. I love the loop clip spyderco incorporates in some of their knives I don't feel like it's going to ruin my pockets like some of my other knife clips do. The only slight complaint I have is the clip is a little bulky in hand but still overall comfort in grip is great.

handsome Knife, lightweight, almost perfect.
Jay D. on Jan 30, 2018

Really nice fit and finish with solid materials and a classy look. The blade is a shinier polish than the average spyderco and looks fantastic. It is lightweight and carries easily. Could pass for a "Gentleman's Folder" It has one fairly big issue that keeps this from being a 5 star offering in my opinion. It may not be as much of an issue for smaller hands, but the angular back side of the handle has some points which rub uncomfortably on the meat of my hand. Unfortunate as this is an easy EDC pick otherwise.

Good EDC
Ryan W. on Jan 5, 2018

Alright, so this is a good option for EDC, but it has one major downside for me. Before that, let me tell you. Buy this knife if it is on sale; like for $99. Do not throw $160 at it. The carbon fiber is real on this knife unlike a lot of the Spydercos. It feels amazing. When I first got the knife the action was awful. But after taking it apart, cleaning and adding some lub; it has an awesome action. Some people hate the liner lock, but it doesn't bother me. I will tell you what bothers me. The clip!!!. This thing is the worst hot spot, I've yet experienced on a knife. Maybe if Spyderco had just positioned it differently would it be ok. I hate it. I can only bear it for a bit. Otherwise, without the clip, the handle feels amazing.

Uniquely cool
Mike P. on Dec 1, 2017

Smaller than it appears in the video on the BHQ site. Very solid build quality, feels good in the hand. Flipper action is OK and its true the clip is kinda in the way but it oozes quality! I got mine for under $100.00. Should be a great edc blade. Light and unique!

Good quality
Jay E. on Nov 27, 2017

The handle is a little blocky in hand and I have to struggle to get a 4 finger purchase on this knife's handle. All in all a great little knife for the price, quality build, very nice blade shape & perfect centering. Don't get me wrong, this is quality you're getting but it suits people with a smaller hand better I think.

Excellent Value at the Close Out Price
John R. on Nov 11, 2017

At the current (as of this writing) close out price, this knife is a buy. Very light in the pocket, nice carbon fiber handles. Nice bead blast finish on the blade. Blade shape makes it a great slicer. But it has its quirks. You really need to reverse the clip from the usual location since it digs into your hand o/w. The flipper is a little tricky to learn, but a little lube and practice and then it's flawless. It's a relatively small knife and that may be an issue for large hands..

It's ok

The liner lock kills this knife for me it is a pain to open overall good quality not a fan of the pocket clip either but its sharp and looks good

Great Quality :D Poor Feel :(
Anthony T. on Dec 1, 2017

Out of the box this knife is super sharp and looks very nice but quickly I learned that the steel, even though it’s CMP S30V, looks cheapish for a Spyderco. Once I messed around with the pivot screw I got the knife to flip open super easy. But my one major complaint on this knife is that the liner lock is set further under the handle and can be a bit awkward to actuate with one hand because the liner lock is flush with the handle and not pushed out a little for easier use.

On the fence

Not a huge fan of the way Spyderco knives look in general. This knife however looks really good. It's really high quality and on sale I felt I couldn't pass on it. However it is thick and feels round in the hand. Quality aside its not a great knife for me. For it's size I feel it to much in the pocket due to it's thickness. Doesn't feel good in my hand and also the blade lock release is harder for me to release than any other knives I have owned. Would of gave this knife 1 star if it wasn't for the great quality plus the great fit and finish.
