The Fred Perrin-designed Street Bowie, like the Street Beat, features Perrins distinctive index-finger choil, which serves as an ingeniously effective alternative to a traditional guard. Unlike its smaller counterpart, the Street Bowie has a longer 5-1/8-inch blade and an injection-molded FRN handle with high-traction Kraton rubber inserts. Spyderco has reintroduced the Street Bowie with a non-reflective ceramic coated blade. This version is paired with a redesigned injection-molded polymer sheath equipped with a versatile G-Clip attachment.
The big surprise is how light this thing is. A 5 inch blade that feels like nothing in your hand. The VG-10 steel is easy to sharpen, which is good, because mine came with a not especially sharp edge. The sheath is a surprise too, it is very light and retains the knife well. I can carry this and hardly notice it. For the money, this is a great deal. I am delighted with this knife.
Just ordered this for a light-weight back-up knife. Very nice blade for the $. Sheath needed some minor adjusting now it rides perfect. The black coating isn't the greatest, showing signs of wear already but then again, are there any black coatings out there worth writing home about? Good knife for the $, and it's a Spyderco so you can't go wrong.
