The Protecteur's preliminary design was planned by special forces and survival expert, Philippe Perotti. The finished product is the official selection of the ALAT, the Aviation Légère Armée Terre, and the knife is used by the flight crews of French combat helicopters. Its double-sided blade allows a pilot to extricate themselves from emergency situations, the serrated side being particularly effective at cutting through thick straps or cords.
