This Nighthawk is the small version with a 4.9" blade.
Buck Knives and TOPS Knives have come together again to develop the Nighthawk, a rugged, reliable and durable full-sized fixed blade knife. The Nighthawk features a reinforced molded nylon handle with an ergonomically designed non-slip grip. The clip point style blade is 420HC stainless steel with a black oxide finish and a plain cutting edge. The Nighthawk comes with a black heavy duty nylon M.O.L.L.E. compatible sheath.
Don't let the 420HC steel fool you into thinking this blade can't keep up. Bucks' heat treat on this material is something special, and I have to say in my experience, their claim of approaching carbon steel toughness in a stainless is on point. These blades take a super sharp edge and hold it well. Tough? Have you seen the 6 part nighthawk destruction test on Youtube? Love the comfy, super secure grip on these, too. If there's a better value out there, I haven't found it.
